Yep I made exactly the same mistake mate- buying my Sidi Black Rains from Infinity GPS, wandered in, tried on a good comfy boot. Bought them, went home and happened to check the website- on special with £30 off! Damnit.
Lesson learnt I guess though

Yep a lesson learnt.
I just hope people learn by OUR mistake:)
I am sorry to hear two people who have this problem. I have always found Infinity Hanger Lane to be really helpful and it is my local motorcycle store. It is a betrayal of trust to have dual pricing like this unless they make it really clear that there are separate internet and store prices. Not good for business as I am sure you will never go there again and people are more likely to remember that you had problem than they are to remeber that I had good service.
UPDATE
I’ve just received a very nice email from Head Honcho at Infinity apologising for the upset caused by the website pricing differences. These are being resolved at present.
I have had my £28 refunded to my debit card and a renewed faith in Infinity Motorcycles:)

Yes indeed!
It just goes to show it pays to question the pricing policies of these Internet shops compared to the real ones:cool:

Very good mate… so beers on you tomorrow!? :Whistling:
:ermm:
Hell Yeah!Unfortunately it’s Mrs CM’s birthday tomorrow so will have to take a rain check… maybe next week:)
I had a similar expereince with the GPS store - I think it was a jacket I wanted, checked the website & saw the price - popped round at lunchtime and it was about £20 more expensive, they explained this was the online price so I just left it & went elsewhere.
Youd’ think it’d be cheaper if you bought it in the shop to as theres less hassle for them packaging stuff and posting it! Its not just Infinnity that do this, HMV and a few others have the online discount thing too.
see you should have come to rex judd clothing as you get 15% discount anyway and we would have sent them of to be repaired.
Infinity & beyond.
I know this thread was about internet verses instore prices, but it sounds like their initial attitude was not conducive to you returning to spend money with them.
I have issues with Infinity. Having spent £7000 on a new bike a couple of years ago, they told me the 1st service would be free. It turned out I had to pay for parts, only labour is free. After collection & having done a few miles, I noticed a slight oil film on the side of the engine, when I took the bike back they discovered that 1 of the spark plugs hadn’t been tightened correctly!
On collection from new they wouldn’t put a full tank of petrol in, the fuel warning light was on, they said it would get me to the nearest garage.
But best of all, after about a year the little grommet had dissapeared that holds the alarm light in the side panel. When I went to scrounge a replacement, I was begrudgingly given a new one & told that if this one fell off I would have to buy the whole new fibre optic unit next time.
They have to do better than that to get my money. I don’t think they sell Sidi boots, but I’ve always found Hein Gerricke Stockwell service brilliant.
this is what makes me laugh you lot are so quick to jump on here and slag shops off for something or other, but in the time you are slagging the shops off you could have looked at prices online as you are sit at the computor anyway then you would have had a price you could have bargain with.
and you only have to write it down on a piece of paper and take it with you it not hard is it at the end of the day.
its so easy to sit there and slag shops off, when its only down to your lazyness that you got charged more anyway.
so how is this the shops fault ?
you could have gone anywhere and tried them on then gone home or work and ordered them online.
can we please stop slagging shops off as they have to pay the workers wages, and its not always the shop that is to blame, sometimes its you who is to blame.
Fair point about unnecessary criticism/posts typed in frustration because as you say there are always 2 sides to every story but I think people who work in bike shops have an obligation to help customers with their problems. If they don’t, there will be nobody to pay the wages you speak about.
I think it is still pretty poor for a shop to not have their web and store prices in line.

With comments like that you are painting yourself into a corner Egypt.By telling people they are being lazy by visiting shops to buy gear you will eventually do yourself out of a job due to falling shop sales and increased internet sales. You should be promoting the fact that you can offer a better customer service than internet shops.I never slagged Infinity off for the service I recieved in the shop, in fact it was very good. My gripe was the disparrity of pricing on their website. The fact that I have now had the difference refunded proves to me i was right.I posted not to slag the shop off, just to warm LBers to check the websitre prices before going to the shop itself.
in away you are slagging off shops,at the end of the day shops sell stuff for what it is told to buy head office.
most shops go out of there way to give you a good price if they can,but if the shops hands are tide, that is all the shop assistant can do sometimes.
im lucky where i work as i have a free hand with prices.
web prices
normerlly means that the stuff comes straight from the warehouse,
so they do have to pay for it to be sent to the shops,no staff to pay,no shop rent to pay and to be far alot of staff dont normerlly get told what the deals are they only read them if they are online, are see them in mags.
for them to send them from the warehouse is alot cheaper than selling them from a shop.
as they have a contracted courier compony that comes at 5ish everyday so they just put them on the truck.job done no shop staff wages involved.
so many shops have ebay sales and other internet shops now most people dont even know how long there jobs will last.
as in most jobs now the computor is taking over manual labour is on it way out in a lot of trades now as not so many staff are needed.
Fair comment but I was upset by the fact that I was told by the shop that if I had mentioned the web price they would have given me the discount. So whay not give it in the first place?
chunky i dont think i ment to say your being lazy visiting shop.
chunky shops like infinity and other multi francise shops
not all the staff know the web prices, they dont all get told the manager normerlly knows, but does not always pass it on as there profits will fall.
its not the staffs fault.
please remember that when you go in as everybody normerlly wants a discount now.as paying a full price has long gone.
we have staff from hien gerricke that come and buy their clothing and stuff from us as it is cheaper the buying it from their own shop, even with staff discount ?
so you see it the manager that set the prices in the shops, its not a dig at you mate but its not the shops staff fault.
