German police have bought a fleet of high-performance sports cars to catch British drivers using autobahns as race tracks. The Porshe 997 Carrera S has a top speed of 190mph and goes from 0-60 in just 4.5 seconds. Sports car drivers from across europe often hold illegal races on German motorways, many of which have no speed limit. Last month police stopped and fines 100 British drivers in one such race. The new Porshe fleet means officers can try to catch up with the culprits rather than use roadblocks to stop them.
I’ve always wondered how the autobhan’s work, as I’m sure we’ve all been in the situation where you’re going very quickly indeed, and the vehicle in front really didn’t seem that close a second ago. The faster you go, the more on the ball you have to be. Porche’s eh, nice, for some Bloody British, can’t take them anywhere!
bloody germans, never like us havin fun do they
Dam.
That means there’s no point in taking my new Carrera 3.2S over for a bit of 'bahn-burning.
Ho hum.
Sounds like the Gerry cops are havin’ a laugh Chuffster. These young cops everywhere are in it for the buzz (thats why they keep crashing).
Still I’d imagine the Brits that are doin’ the “crime” are havin’ just as much fun.
Call me old fahioned but my heart still lies with the ones being chased.!
The whole “no speed limit” on the autobahn may lead to mis-interpretaion. The reccomended speed limit is 130kph, but you are alowd to go as fast as you want (on some parts of it) as long as it’s safe to do so… Basically you don’t wanna go zooming past a cop car at 170mph because that wasn’t a safe speed for the circumstances.
They could catch you with this also:
The Bast**ds -thats just not playing the game
Hehehe, as if that’s real, C, they’re clearly trackday bikes
Minor matter of mirrors, tyres and stick on blue light.
But nice idea. Hope no German Plods are reading this…
Been there and cruising at 140mph, some cars will fly by you!
I just had to put that picture in.
The Police for one of the counties actually has a race team, in case anyone wanted to find out more it’s http://www.110-dasteam.de/index.html
it’s all in german but some of the piccies are alright.
Well I’ll soon find out about this as there will be a few bikes taking a trip into Germany for some fun on the autobarns next summer
maybe a few misunderstandings here bout the german autobahn.

the german police would never buy porsches to catch english racers. the have porsches for ages…

130 km/h ist the so called “richtgeschwindigkeit”. this means when you drive faster than 130 km/h and you are involved in a crash you have to pay a little bit of the damage if they can show that you would have had no accident with a lower speed. if there is no sign on a german autobahn you are allowed to drive as fast as you want. i drove 280 km/h a few weeks ago beside a police porsche (no joke) and there is no prob in doing this.

the pic is only a racing team of the nrw police and this pic is a joke of those mates. they´re funny
