What is the deal with illegal exhausts or small plates? I see loads of bikes with both.
If you get pulled, is it a fine, points on your llicence, both?

You will get a £30 fine for each, small plate, illegal can, black visor, and a producer, meaning you have to present your bike in a totally legal condition within 7 days. No points at all but they are looking in to it.
So no brainer for me, bike sounds cool with load can, looks better with a small plate, and black visors are cool even if the person wearing them isn’t. All for £90 if you ever get nicked and I never have (yet).
If you’re polite and not rude they usually dont care, warn you you shouldn’t have it on there, just act dumb! But if they are in a bad mood then what rich said!

I think they really don’t like small plates…But don’t mind the others too much.
When a race can says not for road use, scurf or sand it off and then play dumb if stopped. It is quite hard to prove can is illegal from noise level unless its ridiculously loud.
I recon having a race can on is a safety issue which should be allowed. If you hear a bike with a load exhaust you look around before crossing the road, but if its a quiet standard one you don
t hear it and could have an accident.
agreed, dont get a one line plate it is asking for them to look at ure bike in more detail…
Blimey!
If you have a legal query at the resident Plod!
A lot of what has been posted is incorrect (no offence meant!)
An illegal plate is a £30 non endorseable offence, as is a small plate, as is a tinted visor…
If you have all three you can forget a ‘£90’ all inclusive fine??? your going to court, too many offences to fall within the remit of a FPN i’m afraid…
If you recieve a VDRS (defect notice) then it is 14 days in which to rectify the problem NOT 7!!!
And as for illegal cans . scrub off whatever stamps/labels you want, the bike either has a baffle or it doesn’t!!
the ‘Not for Road Use’ etc labels are a disclaimer for the manufacturers and a ‘reminder’ for the purchaser that he/she is buying a race can NOT a road legal exhaust…
but you all knew that, right?
Porkster !!
Why is it I cant wear a dark or tinted visor but If I lift a clear one and have a pair of RayBan Sunglasses on its ok ?

FROM CHARLIE: Porks, whats the deal with going around a roundabout more than three time in a row with out taking a exit?
Fine is it?
Tinted visor rule is being lightened as i previously posted a while back…they are not being looked at now unless your stupid enough to wear one at night
Going round and round a roundabout is not an offence.
you’ll look stupid though and if your trying to get your knee down you’ll look even stupider
remember though, once a motorist see’s you once on an R/A he/she will have expected you to have exited at some point…so don’t be surprised if you get cut up at some point…
and then there is the ‘getting dizzy’ aspect…
Thanks porks, presumably this would do the trick?
Anybody used one?
I haven’t used a decibel killer although I do use a sports can!
Following on, so can having an illegal exhaust get you points??
no
seconded!
HI Dannyboy, I used to have a viper can with a removable baffer, never used the baffer on the road but it is good to have for MOT saves you replacing the can to a stock one.
a race can is an offence that carries a fine of £30 and no points, i was told that by a charming member of the Kent force while he was writing out my ticket.
