If anyone is feeling generous, a work acquaintance, Nick, is doing the Mongol Rally in support of Birmingham Childrens Hospital. The website is www.idiotsabroad.co.uk
I don’t know Nick especially well - he’s a surveyor whose services I regularly enlist at work. Whilst chatting today I gleaned that he was a fellow biker and was about to imminently undertake this challenge! Until he sent me the link, I was unaware of the personal reason for his cause: his son sadly passed away at the age of 13 due to a congenital heart defect.
Any donations would be greatly appreciated. This is the link to his Just Giving page:
I almost did this last year year but took a job instead. My two mates went though and bloody loved it.
Good luck to your mate, good cause. If they are taking a car, tell them to fit a bash plate under the car. The whole underside of the car to protect the engine and petrol tank. Also it’s worth them practicing how to break a tyre bead and fit a tyre.
depending on which 125 Yamaha, not as daft a choice as it might seem.
We al forget that simple small bikes are the backbone of world motorcycling. Anyone want to guess how many Honda C50 - C90 Cubs (or derivatives) have been built world wide?
Save you looking it up, it’s approaching 80 million. Little bikes like these are legendary for “just do it”.
