I’m thinking of doing the IAM training.
I’m not so bothered about the test, more interested in learning to ride better and getting more confidence.
I know there the LAM, and there’s the East London group as well. Is anybody here member of either, or other? Recommendations?
I belong to the Herts and beds group but Jimc is a London member, why not PM him for more info.
I went with the Essex Group.
I’m currently undertaking training with ELAM (east London advanced motorcyclists). They run a structured course consisting of about 6-8 observed rides and at least 3 theory nights. They have a great success rate,100% over the last 3 years and are really nice people as well.

Hi Steve.
Where abouts are most of the observing rides with the ELAM?
I’m in South East London (Lewisham area).
So far they have started at either Leytonstone or Harlow and then go all over Essex.
The theory meetings are held in Chingford north London, usually 7.30 on a Thursday.

a number of groups you could look at try looking at:
http://www.iam.org.uk/iamgroups/groupdirectory/southeastenglandinclondonsouthofthethames/
although the end qualification is the same - the route to get there can vary between groups…
…as has been said : some groups have a quite structured approach…
i’m a member of a couple of different groups… and can honestly say : no matter which group you choose - it’s well worth doing
(…for no other reason than another way to get money off at insurance renewal time…)
