I WANT A SUPERMOTO!!!!

cheers.

I was looking at getting into track riding and was going to get a track bike. i think i am going to knock that onm the head and get a supermoto as they seem like so much more fun, and if i want to do track days just use my bike for now!!

Just stumbled across this thread, loving it,

Would love to team up with a few lads on supermotos, know a fair few good routes for the greenlaning,

Only problem with the vor and verti is parts ceased for them years ago!

Symonz hope your ok after your off, 40 head on is pretty bad, done that myself before and ended up laying on top of a
Hedge

The DRZ is what I have as a project at the moment, despite what anyone says they go well, the WR of mine is quicker to get to 70 but top end speed is about the same. Got a FCR 39mm and 440 big bore kit to stick on my one just so I can have a tinker but I rate the DRZ it looks good also and has good road manners, I’ve had all the blinged up motards but the DRZ is the one which people still like and they sell well unlike husqvarnas, maintance is another think I had a drz with 73k on the clock, only ever had a cam chain!!!

Anyway, would love to start a little supermoto clan descent crew!!!

So is the DRZ400 Well worth getting as a first Supermoto?

Mine certainly was

You do need to decide whether you’re going to be mostly on-road, in which case you stick with the 17" SM wheels and put some road tyres on, mostly off-road, in which case you put on 18/21’s and knobbly wheels, or try and go in between by putting some ‘half and half’ tyres on the SM wheels. I have two sets, but changing the wheels around is a PITA so I rarely do it, the bike tends to live on the knobblies at the mo although I am thinking of getting some 50:50 for the 17’s…

I would like to go out on it and hoon round the country lanes and then have the option to go off road and do some Green Laning or even some jumps/mud riding etc. so the 50/50’s would be ideal. but Changing wheels (if like doing so on a sports bike) isn’t really too much of a hardship so i could consider getting a couple of sets with different wheels for different occassions

I’m well up for this, i’ve been looking and you can pick up a 2003 DRZ400 for less than £1500!!! I could easily run one of these as a 2nd bike. what Insurance group are they?

+1

I ain’t sure what group they are to be honest but they ain’t they expensive to insure, maybe a group 9??. I saw this picture below someone put on another forum, it’s a supermoto knobblie, looks metal to me, thing is supermotos are like two bikes in one, I think the roads over here are set up for this type of bike, speed humps, pot holes, curbs, fields, lol

If u get a drz can I be in your crew???

I had a SM. Best fun I’ve ever had (see it in my display picture). Great commuter etc

When people say it’s a lot of fun it really is! The up right position, the torque etc etc

I sold it (but regret) because I got caught doing wheelies and being a hoon! Went to court got points and a fine.

I sold it and recently bought a XJ6N for commuting. Defiantly not as fun but a good commuter bike.

I plan to get another SM but will probably have another bike with it

lol. I’m no Crew Leader, but if i do get one i will happily let you take the lead and i will follow.

I learnt to ride on Crossers etc when i was early Teens, but that was the last expierience i’ve had on bikes like that so would need to go out a few times with people to get used to it.

D1708, yeah I know what u mean, I used to take my CBR out for a blast and no one batted an eye lid, take the supermoto out and it’s all eyez on me like that 2 pac song. Is that a drz in your photo?

I saw a set of this twin yoshi’s they sell for them. Look well sexy but Dont want it to sound like a Lancaster bomber lmao.

I like all the modding up on the drz u can do.

Sam there is no way I am being the leader of the gang!!

You know you want the Gary Glitter role!!!

Yep it’s mine here’s a couple pictures before I sold it. I had E cams FCR39mx MRD system with RS3 slip on (MRD muffler was too loud) removed PAIR/Soleniod restrictions etc was dyno’d at 42bhp SM stock form is about 33.5bhp

Nobody wants to be in Gary’s gang anymore!

D1708, nice I like it, did u keep any parts?

Nope but I have a rear shock still with dog bones etc if you need

I’m looking to sell my 625 SMC

Oooh I’m going to be replacing my rear shock at some point (mine has bits of rust on it, still feels fine but I want to change it). How much you after? >:-)

What year? how much? what insurance group is it?

Just got a quote for a 660 SMC £108.54 (TPFT) or £148.09 (FC)

I want one evn more now!!

Sam what ever you do just remember to invest in a almax or something similar.
