I think I just made a Booboo

Went into Infinity Motorcycles in Clapham and signed up for a Yamaha FZ6S, Black, lovely bike… just can’t stand the tube anymore and the 0% interest is a no brainer… let my heart rule my head…

Last insurance quote I had was after my SV was stolen and was for a new Bandit from Metroplolis so I thought it would be the same(ish) £700 fully comp. I balked at that a bit at the time, thieving scum have got a lot to answer for.

Been surfing around for a few quotes on the Fazer this afternoon, Performance Direct, Devitt and H&R all quoted over £3,000!!! ebike want £1,300.

Sh1T!!! What am I gonna do, I can’t pay that much!

Can you guys recommend any cheaper insurers? I really don’t want to have to go back tomorrow and cancel :frowning:

I’ve not met anything lower than ebike yet… good luck

have u tried motorcycle direct? they’v done me a craking deal

I found Carol Nash and Bennetts to be the cheapest for my bike this year…but you could try Yamaha Insurance Services on 08700 747374 or visit www.yamahainsurance.co.uk

Try Carole Nash or Bennetts as suggested above. I use them and I am in a similar area

Cheers guys, will try them tomorrow, motorcycle direct £2500 and can’t get Yam’s site to work at the moment… not looking great though!

try m c e on08701122385 real cheap

im with equity red star and they are £300 cheaper than ebike…

Congrats on the purchase, though bummer on the insurance! Though that’s what they do, you claim, they fleece you for the next few years to recoup their losses. It’s a kind of loan really.

Try insuring it outside of London, i.e. family address, it makes a huge difference. Also, most insurers will offer the premium to be paid by credit, i.e. monthly.

PM sent to you

STOP - DON’T GO BY INTERNET - OVER THE PHONE THEY CAN OFFER BETTER DEALS - if you notice most insurance companies call you on your mobile(daytime number) within a few hours of doing your online quote to reduce the premium - all because you dont have as many options on the net as the staff i.e I have more then 3 security items for my bike - but most online quotes only let you give 3options!!! can save you lots of money!

Thanks again all… looks like I’ll be bashing the phone a bit tomorrow while I’m supposed to be working… makes a change from surfing t’internet!

I’m hyper paranoid about this one getting stolen so rather than getting a (pointless) alarm will be investing in some serious chain and a r*** a****! but there’s no way I think I’ll ever be able to relax.

If this one was the first I’d go for your Idea Jay but what’s the score with insuring it at my Mums in the leafy West Country and keeping it (on the street) in london where the last two have gone from… and worst case scenario it goes AWOL again. I don’t want to have it nicked then they void the insurance if they decide to do a bit of digging.

Would I have to declare that I commute every day or could I put a secondary parking on that I occasionally-all-the-time park it?

I did this, insured at parents address.

Licence held for 6 weeks, £190 TPFT.

Insewerants scum Mate, I bought an FZ6S brand new couple years ago and I was shocked at the insewerance premium. Once it was a year old, the premium halved. Literally.

The walls have ears… you got PM.

simply insurance 0870 241 2348

i cant fault them or beat there quotes

Mce were the cheapest and I phoned the world Bennets wanted £2600.00 arses

Boys and Girls, I’d be very wary of talking out loud about insuring bikes and not using your address that you live at. It could get you in bother if some people read this.

these do it for me and their legal cover is excellent…

Don’t want to sound like a wet blanket but insuring at your parent’s address can backfire badly.

For instance - bike gets nicked outside your London address.

You put in claim for £6000 ( or whatever )

Nice insurance adjuster comes round and asks you why your bike was sitting overnight in a London street.

You come up with the old ‘visiting a friend’ line

Nice insurance adjuster aks you for proof you are living at your parents address ( bills, tax forms, bank account details )

Nice insurance adjuster smells rat - refuses to pay anything and threatens you with a fraud charge if you continue with your claim.

Result? You loose bike, compensation and if you’re unlucky - you get done for insurance fraud.

Insurance is a business - they employ an army of assesors and loss adjusters so they don’t have to pay out thousands and get to keep the premiums anyway… it’s up to you.

I would go with that too, phone, phone and phone lots of different companies, they will come down in price.
