is the printer connected directly to your pc or is it on a network?

Not all network printers are postscript, usaly only high end printing will need this, and then normaly colour. It lacks things like tray management.
Open your printers list, find your printer and check to see if the print queue is paused, if so click on the menu, document and restore.
If there are jobs lurking in the list, then your print queue has jamed which can sometimes happen in windows. Click printer and Cancel all Documents.
If it is a network printer at a company you may not have the correct access rights to do the above.
Give that a try, sometimes happens to the printers at the my office.
