Okay guys (JAY) ummm…I have broken the printer at work! 
…I cant get it to print ANY documents (word) from the computer…it will print a test page but nothing else…what do I do huh…your all the computer wiz kids, my IT department are crap…period…so its up to you guys/girls to save me…otherwise I wont be a very good ‘Rent Boy’ now will I 
take a hammer to it if all else fails!
i am pretty sure that my IT dept do that when they cant solve anything…
Cant…broke the hammer doing that to our fax machine!!!

I’m no IT-fix-it man, but I would perform the following:
- check it’s plugged in
- check it’s connected to the computer
- remove/uninstall the printer from the printers list in Windows
- reinstall the printer drivers (use the add-printer wizard in the printers list)
- ensure that Word is set to use this printer in the print preferences
- print out all your dodgy Dutch porn.

LOL… you pressed the button, not me.
Run the ‘add-printer’ wizard in the printer list and it should automatically detect the printer and reinstall it for you, then continue with the list.
I know one GEEK…
Can anyone else print to it?
Or is it a printer connected directly to your PC.
If you can print a test page (through windows then you know the drivers etc. are pretty much ok)
Check you havn’t got a different printer set as your default and your sending all your ebay pages to the printer at the other side of the office! 
Try printing from another program apart form Word, if that works then attempt a repair of Word (I;m not sure what access rights you have for this) It’s under tools–>detect and repair.
failing that you probably need someone to reset your word profile registry key 
If the printer installs automatically for you then go into start-settings-printers, delete the printer and then reboot it should re connect it for you. !

U say this printer is at work, is it a network printer if so is it a postcript one?
The best thing to do test its working is to direct connect to it via usb or lpwhatever it is. Then install drivers and check its installed corecctly in the device manager.
If its not even making a sound most likely a connection/driver issue!
Oh an do a test print from the actual printer there is usally a button u press down…this will eleiminate the connection issue, as if it doesnt do it full stop id say its f*cked

Yup thats what Ive been doing all day!!! Thanks for the advise everyone but it confused the crap out of me!!!..kicking it REALLY hard till bits of plastic fell off didnt help…so emailed Head Office and they are gonna buy a new one!! hahah Bet that one dont work either
