i need a bit of tech do da help with bike

ok this is how it goes i was board on day so i decided to put my battery brace on but dumbends here wires it up + to - and - to + so as u can imagin after the fuse went and i was still thinking hummm whats happend here after 20mins and 2 fags later i worked it out :Dbut ne way i didnt get round to getting a 10amp fuse on it (the glass ones :S weird hey) and i only had the 2 pronged ones so i taped it up to a 15amp as thats all i had and it was ok ISHH then i must have jogged it because i had to push it down to get the wires connecting and start it up (once started i didnt need the fuse)

dont worry almost there well anyway i need to rewire it because all 3 spade ends snaped the one on the + battery (held together by tape) and the two fuse spades (bare wires taped on to a 15amp) so its a right pigs ear but i was stranded and had tape.

well anywho since the fuse started playing up my bikes been cutting out alot its weird it starts ticks over but if i rev it and then let the revs drop to tick over it cuts out if i keep them on it dosent it cuts out when i pull away in first with a normal amount of revs and if i pul the cluch in and rev while its bogging to cut out it keeps going. it also cuts out when i come to a standstill with no revs (with clutch pulled in) even in 5th gear im guseing the wireing am i right has any elce had this problem.

also while im moaning about my bike iv got a large amount of oil comeing out the air box :S and overflow pipes is that normal or have i overfilled it?

THANKS GUYS ( and girls ) dan

Ok, firstly, you need to sort out that fuse thing properly. Replace the boken bits, and use the proper fuse intended for that bike, apart from anything, you might be burning out components quicker.

The oil in the air box sounds like a seal problem. Check your oil levels. If it’s too high, take some out from the sump plug at the bottom. You might need to replace the air filter because it will be sucking air into the inlet manifold, and that might be causing some of the cutting out because your engine can’t cope with combusting oil. If it was a diesel engine it probably wouldn’t be such a problem…

When you check your oil levels, have your bike on a centre stand, or sit on it and hold it upright, because if it’s on it’s side stand, the readings will come out too low, and you will over fill it.

If you find it was over filled, and you have broken a seal or gasket, replace that seal or gasket, or get someone to do it for you, because it will not get better and you’ll just ruin the new air filter.

I hope some of that’s useful to you.

yea thanks replace the fuse yesterday works fine now also my bikes due an oil change so i have a feeling iv over filled it anyway that will be done tonight and i have a paddoc stand i will put it on that and do it but now i have another problem :w00t:

i think this may have been me tinkering but not sure my indicators arnt working well the work but only when im in realy high rev’s or going over 50mph then they dont realy flash more of a on consantly with a slight flicker as the speed increases would this be the relay? or a break in the loom somewhere?

appart from that the bikes been fine for an import anything that has gone wronge has been my falt LOL also i snapped my horn off yesterday lol bloody home made L plae bracket snapped it off lol

When you run an engine that has an alternator (to charge the battery amongst other things) and it has no battery attached, it ‘believes’ the battery is dead and pushes as hard as it can to do the deed. This can lead to blown alternators, regulators and rectifiers.
If you run the bike with the lights on, you should see them brighten as you rev past about 1,400 rpm. If this doesn’t happen you have a problem with the aforementioned. Bear in mind you may have also killed the battery when you connected it up the wrong way round. Does it start off the starter ok? Does it hold a charge? Do the indicators begin to work properly once the revs pick up?
When you fry a lead battery, you can actually bend the plates inside, to the extent they touch and effectively short out. You may have a battery that is partially shorted out. Can you borrow a battery from someone else to test this?

the battery was always dead because from brand new i didnt trickle chareg it :S but the indicators used to work and it still starts on the elcetric start also my light never dimmed even from new but the battery dose still charge otherwise my digital clocks shut down and the time resets so i no the battery is chargeing ok yes it is something that has to be changed but i dont think thats why the indicators arnt working its something elce also my bike makes a beep beep beep when the hazards or indicators are engaged but now all it dose its beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep i had this befor when i wired the new indicators in wrong but then i sorted it and it was ok all off a sudden its doing it again :S
