I just had a new rear tyre fitted

to my ratty old XR600 supermoto. I have been riding my old Ducati over the last couple of months cause cash has been tight and couldnt afford to waste cash when I still had the Ducati to use. Booked the XR into Essential Rubber, in Dalston, for a new BT090. What a riot to be on the SM again (riding up there)!

With the new slippy rear fitted, its like riding in the wet with the rear wheel, and masses of dry weather grip on the front! I cant believe what fun it is on a new rear with a bike aint worth owt if you lob it I’ll have to wait until its wet to have a much fun when the new tyre is scrubbed in Why did I ever buy the Ducati?

Edit:

This is bound to end in tears!

last rear I had on new where I gave it the wellies just to see why we should scrub them in!, the rear wheel span up. No surprise there, but in doing so, it had gauged a 1-2 mm deep line just off the centre of the tyre. rather stupid thing to do and very annoying it damaged the tyre. im going to run the next one in properly!

Yeah, well when you have a whopping 39hp to play with, like my XR, new rear tyre or wet roads are play time!. I bet that puny lil’prilla makes a lot more HP than my XR on 1 cylinder!
