I just bought a new bike, and have never felt so sad....

After much hard work resurrecting her from the dead, and still with a £1000 to go before she’s close to perfect I have decided to chop in my z1000.

I thought the winter would do more harm than good, seeing as I am only abusing it with my daily commute.

My finances mean I am now limiting my spending (buying a new flat) so I have decided to get a bike that is cheaper on the monthly re-payments, cheaper on insurance, cheaper to run, etc, etc.

I just bought a pre-registered ‘Street Bandit’ (GSF650 SA K6) in the most feminine colour available, turquoise! Delivered next week.

When the new flat is sorted I am going to go for a Sunday bike to have fun with. Maybe an old Ducati or something.

Anyone think of anything positive about dropping power, speed and sexy styling?
Anyone got any good come back lines when you get the **** taken out of you for having a crappy coloured bike?

We all go through this, when i bought my first flat i had to sell my Lotus which at the time made me feel sad, but one day something better will come.

well you could always talk out your arse when they take the **** out of you

Example: it is a well know fact that tourquise dosnt have as much heat reflecting pigments as any other color therefore dose not absorb heat as much which keeps the pain lighter as dose’nt become as heavy as other more traditional colors thus making it a lighter bike and a bike this size it would ad another 10bhp

This is because of the blend of three colors one part light and two parts dark color green, blue and white which cancels out the ability to absorb heat particles allowing the particles in the paint to stay motionless and not move about in the allowed movement space this results in a sleeker more streamline bodywork for increased speed every one knows that duh!

or a drop in power yes but a decrease in the size of my bike means its faster then my old bike :hehe:

i will admit sometimes it dosent work and people will take the **** out of your for what you just said but hey at least there not looking at your bike anymore.

Sorry to hear you had to sell the bike, you will benefit in the long run so keep that in mind.

At least you will still have a bike and you wont be looking at the colour when you are riding it;)

I am selling and buying a house at the moment too so depending how that goes I might have to sell mine too-anybody got a ski mask and a sawn off to lend me, I will only need it for a few days:D

Its totally gutting to get rid of yoru pride and joy, I had to get rid of a 1966-911 and my CBR.When buying a new flat. After it had all gone through, I brought a scooter for a year to get around town. Hated the lack of power. I could only handle it for a year and went out and brought a second hand Hornet which put a smile back on my face.

Still a bit annoyed about it, but that’s life I tell my self!!

Life’s full of ups and downs Steve, and the occasional off let’s not forget.

Sounds like you are making the most of it mate to don’t be glum, you might grow to like the Bandit :stuck_out_tongue:

Besides, surely that colour saves you having to buy an alarm no?

I consider my self so lucky as Mrs CM won’t let me sell my pride and joy. When we moved into our new house 10 years ago i offered to sell my bike and she said said no because she knew how miserable i’d be:)

It is heartbreaking to sell something you have invested so much time in. Bet hey… It’s only a Kawasaki;):P:D

Shame about the Z, but in time, no doubt you will have something that you love again.

I bought a cruddy old bandit last year. Fed up with commuting on a sportsbike, and needing something that I didn’t have to fill up every 2 days was one of the reasons. It was cheap as chips. Everyone who knows me and how I ride thought I was off my trolley. Nothing like proving them all wrong. So its not fast. Its not pretty. Infact, its probably about as bland as you can get, but it handles quite well if you try. Doing the sports bikes on the twisties and roundabouts soon becomes second nature and puts a huge grin on your face.

I’m gonna have to make this decision soon I reckon too.

Moving from a proper sorted R1 to anything else is going to be difficult for me, but sometimes you have to do difficult things for the bigger picture.

Anyway, at least you can still afford to run a bike. Think of all the poor souls that can’t or those that are confined to cars because of injury or simply because they haven’t realised how amazing bikes are.

When I was learning, my riding instructor always told me to try as many different styles of bike as possible to become a better rounded biker. I also believe if you can get good skills using a less capable machine, you’ll be flying on that snazzy new one.

Brian (B the track instructor) told me he used to race old sh*tters that had bad suspension and even worse brakes. Must have done something because you’ll be lucky to see the rear end of his Gixxer 750 when on track.

Enjoy what you have now…Just being on any form of motorcycle is great fun.

why not cheer yourselp up by joining in the fun at www.banditownersclub.com !

Thanks everyone…

I am thinking of vinyl graphics to stick on might make it look better, but worried I might be identified when being silly on a bike.

Anyone got any tips on performance mods or essential after market things I should be looking at?
