I have a Horn problem

Note: - I said horn not horny for all the dirty minded.

So had a google, but want to see if anyone else has come across this, SV 650 SK9

When I fire her up from cold, Horn sounds within about 10 minutes of riding it just will not work at all, anyone else seen this?

I did read on one forum, it was related to heat on the horn, cannot look at it till the weekend so getting in the ideas now.

chafed wire or the switch has a shity contact

What Wise said.

I had the same thing a month ago.

I should say a poor connection would result in a horn problem

in Italy we say, you have horns if your partner has been unfaithful…maybe you need to have a chat.

No such problem on my K8 SV as far as I know.
I check the horn works once each year just before I take it for a MOT, (it does).
( But it’s not warmed up then so I don’t actually know if I have the “heat on the horn” problem )

I have similar issue, haven’t found the pattern yet. Whenever I decide to fix it, horn starts working  So far checked only connection to the horn which looked like new, but I think problem will be with the switch.

Apparently you’re not alone… there is a reference in one of the posts here about relocating the horn.

The SVs horn is just behind the radiator, so can might get hot with the engine.
Mine had an intermittent fault on the horn, which turns out it just needed a new one.

I’ve got a replacement you can have if you like

The problem’s either the horn or the wiring, and it’s not an overly complex test.

Get a multimeter set to 20V DC, put it across the horn contacts and press the button. If it doesn’t show 12V then you’ve got a wiring problem. If it does, then you’ve got a horn problem.

thanks guys.

to add to it, this morning as I was going along someone walked out I hit the horn and it kinda farted a noise than full horn so looks like it degrads in strength as I go.

Will defo look at the above though, thanks guys

@yourebarred I might take you up on that offer, I’ll see how it goes over the weekend

That farting noise sounds like it is the horn at fault. They’re mostly universal and not very expensive.

The Sleeper has a horn problem, guys come on where’s the smut🚧

I’m with you brains_t, I’m disappointed with this thread to be honest.

How could you even think of taking the mick out of someone’s faulty, and now farting, horn??
