I’ve had my bandit off the road now for about 2 weeks, I was having a few engine problems, although it was still running, but thought it was best to take it off the road before it got any worse. So since then I have been using the bus and my bicycle to get to work and I am officially fed up with it!
Cycling around in lovely weather, whilst being passed by a stream of bikers looking like they’re having a great time, whilst I just look like I’m about to have a heart attack is bad enough, plus the weather Is perfect for biking, but tonight I encountered my first case of cycle rage. I left the pub about 11.40pm and was quite enjoying the ride home, it’s only the second time I’ve done it, but I managed to do the whole journey in a record time and without stopping, so I was quite impressed. But when I got to Ealing I came across a chav !diot on a bicycle who was cycling on the pavement but then cut across the road and me all of a sudden nearly taking us both out, then after a few more really dangerous manoeuvres I decided to tell him to watch where he was going as he’d nearly knocked me off, probably a bad move, as he then purposefully tried to take me out, luckily there was no car next to me. (He was probably just p!ssed off that I could cycle faster than him with panniers and a rucksack on! and he could only catch me up downhill! )
Apart from the few !diots around most buses and motorbikes have been alright to me, although I don’t jump any red lights and I constantly do my shoulder checks, which is probably why. Although I feel an awful lot safer on my motorbike than I do on my bicycle!
I can safely say that riding a motorbike has made me a much better cyclist. I have done quite a bit of cycling in the past but have also had quite a lot of accidents! I haven’t done a lot of cycling in the last couple of years and can see straight away that my motorbike has improved this significantly. Namely because I haven’t fallen off yet! exercising also does make you happier, I’m completely knackered but I did enjoy the ride home. Although not so much after I met up with that !diot.
Everyone trashes the Tube…I didn’t mind it. Of course, I was only in London for 3 weeks at a time…in Euston…I’d take the train to Watford every day for work…and then take the tube around the city all night…No worries. shrug
Now…having said that…you couldn’t PAY me to ride a bicycle on those “streets”…fecking death wish to even attempt it.
There have been a few times over the years that I’ve been without a bike for various reasons – rain or shine there is nothing quite like that first time back in the saddle – you have that to look forward to!
I’ve got my bike going into the garage today - Lloyd Coopers in Watford - result for me is that i’m getting a courtesy bike - CB600!! Its only going for a service - they must appreciate the crappiness of public transport!! :w00t:
John m8, I totally know where you’re coming from. Took me 19 years to get the trike and there wasn’t a day that I wouldn’t have jumped straight back on a bike if I could have. You gotta get something sorted out soon.
I would hate to be without a bike - longest I’ve gone in 24 years is a few weeks. They have been my only transport up until 2008 when I got a car licence and although I’ve had some shocking days on the bike, cold, wet etc. I still get the same buzz now as I did when I was 16 tooling down the road at 35 on my TS50.
And what is wrong with the Bandit ? - simple motors to work on and not a great deal goes wrong with them. You need some help with it, just shout…
