I hate beggars who use kids for sympathy!!

I don’t for one minute believe that they are all sent out to work the streets by their husbands, or that they all drug or pinch and hurt their kidsfor the sympathy effect. I do not deny that there are people who do this but there are also others who begout of poverty, hunger and destitution. I believe that the majority of documentaries and news reports covering such topics are subjective and generally politically driven. How many times have you seen in the press or on TV programmes and articles highlighting the criminal element of asylum seekers and illegal imigrants etc and just how many have you seen spotlighting the genuine people who have had to flee their country, home and family in fear for their life? I have a friend who moved to the UK from Kosovo some years ago during the war in the Balkans, he is an ethnic Albanian and an honest and hardworking bloke who had to leave his country for fear for his life. Yet if we were to believe some of the press reports and other media on this subject many would judge him to be an illegal cab driver/drug dealer/people trafficker working down soho before giving him a chance. Similrly, not all homeless peple are drug addicted alcoholics, some are generally down on their luck, many as result of ‘Care in the Community’ are n the streets and suffering from mental illness too. I just thing it’s completely wrong to make a statement saying you ‘hate’ someone for begging with their kid in tow without knowing the slightest thing about them or their circumstances. But that’s just me.

Is it just me or has no one else spotted the irony in Easyriders signature ‘Easyrider → Live and Let live’…err yeah as long as they are not begging, or scum, or something, or something else…blah blah blah

as i have been fortunate enough to never be in a situation were i have been forced to beg for food and/or shelter, i tend to reserve judgment on those in that horrible situation

there must of course be an element that are exploiting the generosity of others but i suspect (but cant prove) that this occurs mostly in ‘well off’ countries

i was on honeymoon a last year in Cambodia with the missus…
at one of the beautiful temples we visited a lady was trying to sell postcards while her kids were playing nearby…a tourist behind us started yelling at her and being very aggressive, she claimed the cambodian lady had tried to offer one of her kids for $10k…horrible, but to get aggressive at the lady? very strange behaviour

They were professional beggars…thats what I am guessing…

but is it an educated guess? also is your guess that they were not romanian gypsys but eastern european imigrants educated? why even bring race into it?

I am tellling the race because normally they r gypsies and dark like me…these were unsually blonde and fair…may be irish travelers…
