I Am A Total Twat

Crashed rented 125 on gravel on Tuesday, luckily only minor damage, left it back on Wed morning and picked up 2nd hand Deauville i’d bought.

Coming along Wigmore st towards Marble Arch at lunchtime today, pulled away from the lights at Wellbeck st and some idiot in a blue Porsche, who had been stopped at the red light decides he wants to jump the light and shoots across the junction straight into my path. Nowhere to go, slam on the anchors and lay the bike down neatly right under his front bumper. It gets worse.

Bikes almost undamaged, just some scratches and a bust engine bar, i’m not hurt bar my hip, so I pick the bike up from under the car, push it across the junction and go back for my helmet which i’d left on the traffic island. Guy pulls up next to me, says he saw everything and the guy clearly went right through a red light causing the accident so I ask him to pull over and leave his details as a witness, which he does.

Me and the Porsche driver exchange details, both writing down our registrations, names and mobile numbers etc and we both leave the scene, no police, ambulance required etc.

So I go to the workshop to get the bike checked over and they give me an accident claim form, filling it in and it asks for the other parties details, so I pull the scrap of paper from my wallet to be faced with my own name, mobile number, reg and insurance details.

We’d both written our details on the same bit of paper and i tore it in half and handed him the bit with his details on it:laugh: Called the witness and he hadn’t noted the reg of the other guys car either, he’d just put his name and mobile number.

Should I laugh or cry?

Doh

Oh man. That’s bad! I can’t see your way out of that one!

You were probably in shock after the accident mate. It could have happened to anyone.

Sorry but I laughed at that :Whistling:

On a serious note, any chance of CCTV? Can you remember his name?

To be honest, looking back on it, I find it pretty funny that I could be so dumb too, but if the bike had had more severe damage, or I was hurt then i’d be pretty hacked off about it.

and i’m not even blonde:D

Your mistake is totally understandable Stuts, an accident like that will leave anyone badly shaken up. Good thing you are ok. I would get your hip looked at though at A&E, they should see you quickly if you tell them you were in a bike accident.

That’s a bummer. You’ll have to report it to the police, as neither of you have complied with the law…if you pop into a police station and speak to the station officer, they’ll laugh about it and then give you a self reporting form to fill in. You never know the other party might have also remembered his responsibilities under the Road Traffic Act and reported it as well, in which case you’ll be laughing, as the police will give you his details, and with an independant witness saying he’s done a red light they might even take him to court!

I did exactly the same thing a few years ago after getting knocked off a cycle. We swapped details as they guy said he’d pay for the damage to the bicycle but obviously nothing came of that!

Its difficult to think straight when youre shaken up like that.

woops !!!

Sorry about your run of bad luck mate, at least you can laugh at yourself.

man I’m soo sorry that is such bad luck to make matters worse I p!ssed myself reading that!

I had an accident once where the driver did a runner now I call the police for everything…

PMSL. LOL sorry man. Thats just too funny.

Seriously I hope you get it sorted

DOH!! :w00t:

Sorry mate I laughed too, easy mistake to make, I think I nearly did something similar a few years back but the other party pointed out my mistake at the time so we didn’t leave the scene with the wrong details, hope it all works out for you.

made me chuckle as well, hope you get it sorted though

Candidate for best tag line of the year?

Lol very funny  we’re laughing with you not at you of course

And just to top off my perfect week, the Deaville i bought on wed morning broke down tonight between hatfield and st albans, backfiring and lost all electrics. Had a torch with me, which I just happened to buy on the way home last night but no tools yet as i’d only got the bike, had a jiggle round the ignition, got her going again, put on my helmet and the fooker died again. Tracked it down to the red wire for the ignition feed coming free from the ignition barrel but no tools to get the fairing off and bodge it back on to get me home. Bloody infuriating, I could actually see what the problem was and couldn’t do a damn thing about it.

Then turns out the recovery i’d just paid for as part of my 750 policy only covers me on that bike, so call SOS and with my wallet £160 quid lighter, arrive back at Ravenscourt park to leave the bike at the workshop, just in time to miss the last tube that would have got me to Wimbledon, so here I am, 3am and four buses later, frightfully knackered, severely pissed off and finally with that cold beer i’ve been craving all night.

******** to this, so much for the luck of the Irish:D

Oh man you’ve had a week of it
I bet the beer tasted good though.

What bad luck. This is why I always ride with breakdown cover I know is valid cos the time you don’t have it is the time you’ll need it. Sod’s law. For the past year I actually had 2 policies - AA which Suzuki provided, and my ongoing RAC one! Can never be too careful

I thought I had a crappy week (first off on Wednesday courtesy of a indicatorless less numpty who figured mirrors are optional)

Not good.
