Running a HPI check on a bike but it says no data can be found for that reg.

Anyone know what’s going on?

does it have frame and engine number’s with a logbook what more do you need to know its a project isit not
You bought a bike for pennies and it’s now on it’s 3rd engine.
Forgive me if I don’t trust your opinion on how to buy a bike.
I want to make sure I’m not going to spend a load of time and money on restoring a bike, only to be pulled over and have the bike seized because its nicked.
That’s why I want a HPI check.
I will happily fork over £20 for a HPI check on this bike.
It’s been stored since 1997. Seller says it runs (could probably do with a tune up after that much time).
26k on the clock (Which I hold to be realistic). It’s a 1992 model so 5 years of riding before being stored. Works out to 5200 miles a year.
Considering I did 6k in my first year, it seems legit. Many of you will say 6k is low mileage but if I’ve done it, there’s no reason someone else wouldn’t…

Because a hpi can tell you if a gear box is fucked?. If he has a logbook with matching numbers like my ntv does my dt 125 and 230 does and all the other bikes I have bought then wear is there a problem you can check previous mots for free like I have done and worked out my ntv was off the road for 5 years from 2004 till 2009.
A price of £200 will tell you the entire bike is fucked.
Not really little bit of work and £130 later im on a sub £500 650 and your still on a 125
not sure but it may be because a lot of 400’s were imports therefore their origin may not be hpi checkable
nowt wrong with buying a cheap bike car etc you get what you expect … anything more is a bonus …
£275 ( was meant to be £850 ( and still got the spare engine with it which was sold seperatly) for a gpz500 with a suspected gearbox problem that then went on in the 8 months i owned it to do 22,000 miles and then sold it for £400 and was still going a year later
£630 for my zzr600 9 months and 19,000 miles and a hedge later terminated its existance
£725 for my zzr1100 (plus £200 for spare engine after gearbox went ) 2 years 3 months 52,000 miles

Clarified loads. He doesn’t come across as the sharpest tool in the box but the bike is nice.

Unfortunately, the price doubled overnight.
The owner also told me that he’s only available to view from 5 this evening.
I think it’ll go out of my budget.
Still gonna go and view it. Although it’ll be dark and I probably wont be able to see what I need to, it’s still a good time to check things like riding position etc.
It’s a lot harder to buy an older bike.
It’s even harder when you cant test ride anything…
Get a 600!!! Plenty of old ones out there
5PM is not that bad in case of light. Just arrange meeting 5:10 not 5:55
