If this has been posted before I apologise but was just wondering how long people have been members for
I have been a member since 2005 stopped riding back in 2012 for a while when I had this off and then recently got back into biking when I got a bike in 2016 but between 2007 and 2012 I lived in London and went on Many rideouts
2010… Met Jamie though the gsr forum and he persuaded me to come along to first Jets ride. Was on a very damp day and I crashed it (very gently) ending up in some woman’s bush (giggidy).
Then decided to do a slower Timr Rideout, yup binned it again on some gravel trying to brake hard after seeing Jaime in a layby (he was peeing, I thought he had broke down).
Also managed to lose it on an ‘LB’ bikesafe… You name it, I’ve crashed there
Break of riding when broke.my collarbone in '13. Now.ride only occasionally with some LBers as Illive in Sussex. I also prefer to be on my own when riding
2013, was a lurker but Kishan put me of joining when l had a scooter. Saw a sticker on the side of a blue sports bike heading down the A20, had a laugh as they tried to will my scooter to keep up.
Discovered this forum through meeting some guys when they used to meet outside Bar Italia, including our founder, Jay. At that time, I was on www.thelondonbikers.com, which fizzled out a couple of years ago.
2009 for me, met a bloke on a track day, Gone but not forgotten. He got me on to the Jetstream ride outs, which were the dogs dodas as far Ias I was concerned. boy o boy there have been lots of good times and happy memeries along the way, aswell as a lotta laughs.
2014, but I am only an affiliate member as I have never been on a ride out. Only joined because I had done the CBT and had no idea what I was doing and needed help. Still have no idea what I am doing, so still here to ask annoying questions from time to time.
10 years. Member since 2008. I Googled, “Rideouts London” and London Bikers was the first result. Went on my first rideout shortly after with the Jets. For the first 2 years I was at everything all year round on my CB500. I even did a Route XX on it. Then I bought a 600RR and couldn’t afford to ride it after the monthly payments went out. I got motoring with that after the first year passed. Then Ron Haslam Race School and CNBR got me fired up again. We had a really great thing going on CNBR a few years back. This past year I got frustrated with having to walk to get the bike out of storage at the weekends and was worried about it being stolen or jacked so I left it at my parents and had a year off. I’m getting twitchy now so it could be time to get back in the saddle.
Sad to think about it but those first two years were probably the best. I had unlimited enthusiasm for the weekend and rode the wheels off the CB500. Made loads of school boy errors and eventually blew up the supposedly “bomb proof” engine. It had ran dry of oil. Could have been related to the open pipe and regular use of the kill switch trick. Great times.
I guess probably 2011 when I got my first ‘big bike’ but I don’t remember how I stumbled upon the site.
Think I managed a couple of rideouts before I had kids & moved out of London, nowadays I’m just a surreytolondonbikercommuter on the days I don’t cycle.
Think it was 2008. I’d just been knocked off by some knob who turned into a garage without looking for speeding inexperienced bikers on the outside. Confidence was low, and needed some rideouts to get back on it.
Done a few runs with the Jets and have done at least 6 Alpine adventures with people I met on here, next one being July.
Out in Suffolk now, so bit harder to join up for events…
