Urban 75 have a great now and then section on Brixton. Pics taken from around 1900 to mid 2000’s
Up until the early 70’s there was a huge amount of coal burned in London, both domestic and industrial. The sulphur-dioxide produced made all the brick and stonework go brown and black. As a child I remember London being black and remember all the work in the 70’s and 80s sand blasting everything back to the original colour.
