How can I get dogs to stop pissing on my bike chain?

I chain my bike up to a lamp post outside my place and every day at least twice a day a few
of the local dogs will **** all over my chain and padlock. I don’t blame the dogs, it’s what they do.
But I do blame there owners. Am I being unreasonable to expect dog owners to have the decency
to not allow there pets to **** over someone else’s property?
Moving my bike is not an option. I’ve tried pepper dust on the lamp post and bike chain but it does
not stop them. Does anyone know of any products or have any suggestions that may work?
I’m sick and tired of picking up my **** sodden chain. And no I won’t **** on the lamp post/chain
myself. Don’t think that would go down well with the neighbours.

Ring the council and ask if they can regularly sweep the road where you park your bike:

Alternatively, try something citrus, particularly lemon.

I found lemon juice and pepper mixed will work on cats so maybe dogs, alternatively think about what the dogs are doing. The lampost is a weemail site for dogs so get some hot bleachey water and wash the lampost. No mail no answer, may work.

Be aware that the lampost does belong to the council and they can remove your chain if they want to so don’t wind them up.

better than the cat pissing on ya bed bloody cat!!!:w00t:

**** on the dog when you see him! :hehe::w00t:

hum wonder if that will work with the cat will have 2 try…

realistically there not p1ssing on your property there p1ssing on the lamp post that your chain is around.

you either move your bike (which you say you cant) or suffer it.

expose the wires to the post and watch the dog fry:D

Agreed, that is all you can do. Fooligan is right - it’s their message post, and may well have been long before you decided to chain your bike to it. If it was just one dog, maybe someone could train it not to, but if that post has been traditionally used … they won’t stop.

so wot about cats pissing every were? i just hook up the 24v battery 2 em? ahh so evil

Could you chain it more tightly so the chain isn’t actually on the ground ? (would probably be more secure then too)

tie a knot in his pecker :D:D

perhaps you might consider providing a decoy- something more worthy of the dogs scent marking. Depending on your location & ethnicity perhaps you might employ a dead fish left away from the bike or …for the more persistant dog – a horses head!just suggestions- dont poo poo them immediately!

will try to get hold of a horses head ASAP:)

You could buy this http://www.amazon.co.uk/Get-Off-Garden-Scatter-Crystals/dp/B000LS57O0. We used it on our garden when I was young and it worked well.

As mentioned above, the dogs have probably being peeing on there since the post was put up. I’d tie the chain higher so they don’t pee on it.

However, as a dog owner myself, I won’t let her pee on someone’s property…even if she’s peed there loads of times in the past. It doesn’t take much for the owner to just pull the lead and prevent the dog from peeing there…but that’s the problem these days…people have no consideration for other peoples stuff.

Had a bird **** on my car once…dumped her!

Take your chain with you to the zoo. Go to the tiger enclosure and get it to wee on the chain. Of course, it can be tricky to get a tiger’s attention, and they won’t always wee on your chain first time, so, if it is being uncooperatve, try poking it with sticks or climbing up and over the fence. That should keep the dogs off - and if it doesn’t, at least you’ve had a lovely day out.

PMSL @ Eddie. Id say that was a good move mate

I recon Wildwoofdflowers ?? (sorry if ive misspelt) right get some pee from an animal that the dogs would be scared of and spray it all round the area. Mark it as your own so to speak. LOL place is likely to smell like a grotty pub toilet.
