Hospital check up today...

Went to the hospital today to have my shoulder x-rayed again.

Bottom line is, the big arm bone that goes into my shoulder is cracked at the top, and will take about a month to heal.

Now before you wince: Turns out this is a blessing in disguise. The doc explained to me that obviously when you apply a lot of force to the shoulder joint (like falling on it after flying off your motorsykkle) something has to give. If it’s tendons and muscle that spells trouble and your shoulder will dislocate easier in the future, or you’ll have to have surgery to fix it.

If the bone cracks it will grow back together in 4-6 weeks and the chance of your shoulder randomly dislocating in the future is only 5%, so that’s a good thing.

So… for the next month or so, I can’t raise my arm (for that German salute) and I have to take it easy. (Of course I rode to the hospital, but I had to pick up my right hand with my left one and put it on the gas grip because I can’t raise it )

Could have been worse. Y’all stay safe out there and watch for those piles of sand on the road!

when it gets bad dont forget the hydrotherapy…under the shower on your shoulder, very hot for as long as you can, then very cold…6-8 times

eck can’t you get a lift in a car? - would be a nightmare to come off again?

oowch ouch - good luck with it

Damn, bad and good luck at the same time Stefan! Injuries… aawwrrr…

Hey Stefan,

I must have missed the thread about your off, but get well soon - and glad your mostly OK, this is more or less waht happened to me, and 5/6 weeks later I’m back rock climbing and pushups and pullups, - you’ll be fine, I was unfortunate enough to suffer mostly soft tissue damage - so more dislocations for me!

Get well soon buddy, and take life easy

I’m still gonna take you up on the offer to follow you round London for a day

Hey Hamley, sorry you’ve missed your chance since I moved to Norway now (and I have to say while I love the mountain roads here I miss my daily dose of war on the streets in London) but you can always ask Sickpup if you can shadow him for a day because he’s a dispatch rider too. And a very experienced one at that!

Feels a bit silly out here sometimes. The few times I actually go to a traffic light that’s red with 2-3 cars in front of me here (about once a week) I always filter to the front and I go “sigh, i remember when I used to do this all day”… Then the Norwegians go “Hmmm what’s his problem? Is that legal?” and sometimes honk at me…

Never thought I’d say this, but I’d love to do the A40 eastbound from Ealing to Edgware Road again on a weekday… filtering extreme sports baby

Sorry to hear of your troubles mate, get well soon…
