now rightly so, we dont really care as formula 1’s pretty crap theses days, but could this be the start of the end for Moto GP?
Will Suzuki and Kawasaki continue to spend millions for being at the back?
Well at least we have a British World Champion not the same Itailian one for 8 times, oh who by the way won his first Moto GP championship on a Honda.
And not forgetting that Honda have powered 5 F1 world champions, it would be a great shame to loose Honda.

Well, what a surprise. A bit of a global monetary failure and Honda want to stop throwing money down the toilet. Who’d of thought that might happen?
I don’t suppose they are the only team wondering why they are doing what they do and wondering just what they get out of the sport.
Been a GP fan for years but I’ve got to say that I don’t understand where top level car (and bike) racing is going.
Well, I sort of do, but at those prices?
Perhaps Max Moseley can give them a loan out of his estimated £4.1 billion wealth. (Maybe only £2.05 by the time Mrs. M has finished with him.)

What ever you feel about the sport it employed hundreds likely thousands of people and entertained millions too.
I am sad to see honda going, they can build some of the most powerful and exciting engines around…they seem to have been unable to pick themselves up and do what they know best with this team…it is a sad loss…
I would suspect that you will see other teams go, and likely the same happen in MotoGP…it wont be long before the bikers feel the pinch so watch this space, next year will be the cull of all culls on many fun…sports…including football. we will see many of them going this year I suspect…
frightfully bankers, mortgage lenders and US estate agents have a lot to answer for…plus where is all the money that they gave to the companies that built the houses that sold them to the people who could not pay it back. It must be out there somewhere…they gave it all away, billions and billions of dollars…where is it…
Can’t see any of the bike manufacturers being able to spend millions on gp racing anymore… which might mean that motogp will go tits up and all the bike makers concentrate on WSB where the bikes mirror their products in the showroom so it’s easier to see a link between them - or team budgets will get more realistic in gp, which will help other teams get on the grid and have a slightly better chance of being competative…
Of course it all depends on how bad the recession is going to get… I’m no expert on finance/the economy but I think this must be due to get a whole lot worse, I can’t see all these governments/central banks panicking and slashing interest rates unless it’s all going to hell
Not surprised really top end motorsport is hugely expensive to be even the least bit competitive. Honda won’t be the only ones others will be feeling the pinch and pulling out.

Yes F1 has got far too costly to sustain at this time and how long before moto GP follows suit ?
I think it should merge in someway with WSB how Im not sure as we all want to see great racing, and riders plus we want full grids and value for money which I dont think you get with moto GP
I agree with most of what youve said there… the bankers certainly do have a lot to answer for… and in the uk thanks to gordon brown’s mortgage holiday, those same bankers who are responsible for this mess will be getting a holiday on their mortgage even tho they’ve up.anyhow, i digress! It is a shame that honda will be leaving, but like any other business, they;ve not been successful enough and as a result, they have to reassess the benefit of being involved in such a “luxury” sport and I think they’ve made the right decision. think about the fellas who work in their swindon factory building cars, when they;ve had one or two shifts a week taken away from them, to see a honda driven by jenson crashing into a wall and costing another fortune to fix…
I think there will be more teams following Honda. This , combined with an ever decreasing number of European venues ( Germany likely to be the next to pull out) will mean the races will be run further East with nothing being run in Europe…
