I’m still looking, but I think I just found one of my old cars which was stolen from me years ago. I’ve emailed the company that did the work on the car to see when they did it but was 100% mine as I found old picture which confirmed reg plate.
I did report the car stolen to the police, so I’ll probably drop in and see them see that they say, I would love to have it back…

just ran a check 2009 looks like I reported it, still shows as stolen on the check as well. going to call 101 and DVLA tomorrow see if there is anything I can do about.
They are still running the same number plate on a car that was stolen 15 years ago?

Presumably it would be owned by the insurance company now if they paid out.

There is a bit of an odd story to this.
The car was hit and I was going through the insurance at the time, before any payout it was stolen.
So the car was never really handed over to the insurance per se, I’m not saying they did not end up with it, it is possible this is what I’m trying to find out.
I’ve note seen it, but I have the police report date and I can see on the vehicle check last owner was 5 years after it was reported stolen. Been with that owner since
If it was/is all legit sold, I’d still love to try and buy it back.

Started the process today, called the met who were unbelievably unhelpful!
Literally first words out of her mouth were, that’s old nothing I can do! Obviously this put me in a good mood, questioned how long they hold records to which her tune changed.
I’ve sent relevant emails, going to apply to DVLA see if I can get current registered keepers details.
Going to be a slow process but will go as far as I can.
The police are utterly useless. I’m dealing with one currently that is either bent as a 9 bob note or is thicker than a nuclear bunker wall. I already have proof that he has lied and recorded his lie on the case.
