hit a diplomatic car - anyone got experience?

Just pranged the back of a smart black 5 series beemer wearing diplomatic plates:

i was filtering, he indicated right across my path, i stopped to let him go, which he did, as he pulled across me i started to pull away, he slams his brakes on (despite the fact that the road is clear ahead) and i clip his back left corner bumper with my cylinder head (BMW1150gs). bit of a dent and scratch to his bumper, the bike and i stayed upright am fine.

The car is a consulate fleet car.

he showed me his insurance details and i shared the details i had with me with him.

question is - does anyone have experience of an accident with a diplomatic car? as a fleet car is it pretty much guaranteed it’ll go to insurance companies?

appreciate any comments or advice

thanks
Jim

It will be treated just like an other accident
By what you say and don’t shoot me I would have to say it your fault as you let him carry out his intentions

yeah i am not arguing fault to be honest, my own stupid fault for expecting another sodding cager to behave as normal road user and pull into the space ahead of them rather than leave their arse out in the filter lane.

I am more just curious if anyone had experience of diplomatic cars and whether consulates are in the habit of following up claims as the cars are fleet managed

any more comments?

In past experiences with embassies in another field, whether they play the game fairly or not might depend on who they are.

Good luck with it

quick update - been 2 weeks and no contact made as yet by embassy to make an insurance claim against me so fingers crossed they have written off the incident as one of those London things… fingers crossed!

Please also keep in mind they can assassinate you and claim diplomatic immunity
