Are any LB-ers Highways Agency Traffic Officers?
I very nearly became one.
Turned them down when i saw the pay! and the night work and the weekend work and being willing to be posted anywhere etc etc
then again all they seem to do is wizz up and down the motorway so what can you expect!
If this post doesn’t get a response from one of ours, can we let rip without constraint?
Oldguy.
oooo wassup??
Where do I start? How about “Thet make TFL look good”?
Oldguy.
Whats TFL?
You obviously dislike them, can I ask why?
TFL transport for london ?!?!
If that’s the case then I don’t understand oldguys analogy between the two organisations?
JZ not sure about the analogy either … was just trying to make sense
i’m sure all will be soon revealed
I hope so . . . The suspense is killin’ me
I’ll throw in my pennies worth here, if you don’t mind
Personally, I don’t see any major problems with the Highways Agency patrol’s. Yes, they can be irritating sometimes, closing entire stretches of road because somebody dropped a fag packet or something stupid like that. But, overall, they are achieving the goal of keeping the motorways safer for people to use. It’s another one of those thankless jobs that nobody wants to do, but everyone wants to whinge about
Has anybody ever tried to drive around for 8 or more hours? It’s difficult, and these guys do it day after day, on the same stretches of road. As for TFL? I can’t stand them! They’ve screwed up the entire road system in London, with their bendy buses etc…
Right, who’s next on the menu? CSA? SIA?.. I could rant for hours!!!:w00t:
What do the Highways Agency guys do? The only times I’ve seen them is when they’ve been driving up the m’way impersonating police cars. I have no idea what they’re supposed to be doing (unless the point is that they’re supposed to imitate police cars so that people think twice before speeding).
Does anyone know what their purpose is?
From what I can make out they are the PCSO’s of the motorways. They do all the mundane day to day stuff that traffic cops used to do like helping with breakdowns, clearing debris off the carriageway and organising any repairs needed to barriers etc after any accidents.
This is to allow the traffic cops more time to enjoy their Krispy Kremes;)
I saw some out in force on the M4 on Saturday afternoon after quite a bad accident where someone decided to take out the central recervation, I thought they had done a very good job.
Does anyone know what kind of powers these Highways Agency people have? Are they able to pull you over for speeding and stuff like that or are they just there to “Police”…
Don’t think they can book you as such.
The Lookie-Likey car markings is a stroke of genius as people do tend to slow down when they see one.

Disclaimer it’s not going to win a prize for most exciting blog…:doze: Jonny - if ya don’t mind me asking, what prompted the question BTW?
Ah. Thanks for those explanations. Makes a lot more sense now. I wonder if they have ones on bikes? (I’ve only seen them in cars)
They have no powers of arrest, or to charge you with anything, but you can be reported for not following their instructions when they are carrying out the duties which is the same offence as refusing to stop for a copper IIRC.
if they are two people, any two people they can act as witness for you doing anything that you should not. If they see you speeding, they can report you and if there is two of them they will likely get a conviction…
But to be fair the Police are not just out there looking for speeding motorists…they are more interested in stupid behaviour…dangerous driving, speeding above 85 gets their attention…unless they are on speeding duties…ie with a laser gun…
The Highways people are supposed to be our friends and so they dont want them to become involved in convicting people…I guess…and it is a complete waste of time paying a policeman, what ever he gets for all the training he has had to stand around waiting for the break down truck…
However if I was in one of those trucks and I saw a car acting stupidly I would report them to nthe boys in blue…that must be going on too…are they video equiped yet…that will come I am sure…
