Was just wondering if anyone does the installations or if they know anyone they can recommend. I wanted to upgrade my Headlights on the Car to Xenons. The car is a 2007 model so not that old but it never came with Xenons, not an optional either as I would have had it.
Wouldn’t mind converting the bike lights to Xenon either…
Just like your Show Plate, HID Conversions are NOT road legal.
I doubt if anyone will openly admit to fitting them as Aftermarket HID kits are “Not for road use” but you might find someone to do it privately.
You should be able to fit them yourself without to much trouble.

Hi, I thought the police volvo C5s had HID plus a host of other cars or are they different to the aftermarket kits? Are they OK for the M.O.T?
Well I called the dealers and they can do it for about £1500 lol… seems to me the Xenon conversions are OK, it all depends on the Kit and your car.
I spoke to the Dealers and checked the DVLA ruels and it depends on your actual headlamp unit, if the encasing is OK the light will not glare but if your unit is not meant for Xenons it will glare and will probably fail the MOT.
HID as OEM fitment is fine and legal as the car is fitted with the self levelling devices required to keep the beams on the ground.The aftermarket kits are NOT road legal as they are purely a bulb and ballast swap with none of the levelling gubbins required.The reason your garage wants £1500 to fit Drei is because that includes all the levelling kit that goes with legal HID.If you want to go round blinding people (and fellow LBers) at night be my guest;)
But as the units are plug & play you could always put your original bulbs back in for the MOT 
I thought as long as they were lined up properley they were ok? I know a few people that have fitted them to their cars & have all passed their MOT’s ok - if they were illegal they wouldnt be advertising them in magazines etc

Aftermarket HID systems are not road legal due to the fact you cannot ‘E’ mark a bulb that is of different type to the bulb it is replacing (ie HID for halogen). Therefore we can only sell these as off road use conversions.
mark your having a laugh there, they advertise all sorts of things that are illegal under normal circumstances and its not the advert that breaks the law its the user…
they are normally fine in a bike as the bike generally offers a flat beam rather than a cut off beam, the car lenses will not work with the xenon beams as they are designed to angle the light beams away from on coming cars…this is difficult apparently with the xenon, although I am a bit confused as to why…but it must be due to the shape of the bulb relative to the fitting…hence the need for the moving headlight kits…my truck has these and many new cars do already but not always the xenon bulbs…
On a bike they are really really good…
