Hels checking in from Afghanistan

Hello dudes and dudesses:D:D

Long time since have been on here - how are you lot coping with the snow? Any brave bikers still at it? How I miss two wheels!!! Oh for the open road, chips at boxhill and dodging the London traffic with 100bhp beneath you!!

Life is going well here in Afghanistan. News in brief: been over in the far west for a couple of weeks in the hospital / clinics and meeting with the community leaders in the villages, now am back in Kabul. Had a row with the boss about suicide bomb threats next to our house (sorted now - but there has been a few suicide bombs of late), am seeking funding for two excellent Afghan women’s organisations, one of the disabled peoples’ orgnaisations we work with suffered a coup, when the director (Hazara) suffered death threats with knives by the Shia staff, am working 24/7 and have started seeing a very nice Canadian water engineer, when curfew and lock down allows :) That’s it really, all is cool and have two weeks R&R from 14th - 28th Feb. That is, if the plane goes, it is snowing at the moment and Afghanistan can be a bit like ‘Hotel California’ in the winter … you can never leave…

Nice to drop by and to check out the scene again

Love to all

Stay safe on the roads

Hels XXXXXXXXXX

good to hear from ya hels:) sounds like your doing lots of good things for people & got ya self a fella:w00t:

all the best, darren

Yeah - indeed Dhofty, nice to hear from ya too!!

Having got myself a fella makes life a bit more bearable sometimes when it gets tough. Nothing like having a Canadian water engineer waiting with an illegal bottle of Merlot, when you’ve come out of a hospital and stood the entire day in a freezing cold field for a propeller plane to Kabul;) I won’t rant on about him here though, still in the honeymoon period at the mo:)

Laters XX

i did’nt know that afghan people only drink canadian water:w00t: picky lot:hehe:

yo hels!

good to hear ya safe and sound! and in love!:w00t::smiley: when is you back in blighty??

Indeed Dhofty:P:D:D

Rats me boy, hows it going chuck? Are you well?

I am back on 15th, then going up to see me folks and then back down to Lundin and back to Afghanistan 28th. Such a short amount of leave! I feel I need 10 months off on full pay right now! Be great to catch up, although I gather you lot have had big snows and it’s fookin’ freezing over there.

Take care XXXX

yup but now it’s pi$$ing it down in true british style!

It`s good to hear from you.

Good to see your doing well Hels… Been wondering where you had got to, my biggest worries are true, you ran off with another fella :w00t::hehe:

100bhp between your legs, what would you want all that for

Hey yous all:D

Am v sorry ASBO re our wedding plans, but you know it’s acceptable to marry 4 people at once here…:hehe::hehe:

Kerazy busy here at the mo, just had an e mail from a mate of mine down in Helmand and they all doing okay down there too, keeping their spirits up.

Raining there eh? Shall look forward to UK rain for a couple of weeks and a pint and discarding the radio and not having to worry about suicide bomb threats across the street. Hurrah!!!

Happy biking and Happy Valentines Day to you all - will be sending you all a virtual card as will be on a plane on that happy day.

Laters and stay safe on the roads

one + point of Kabul, i imagine, is you can park anywhere without worrying about parking tickets and fine:D how liberating

Good to hear your ok Hels, and things are improving for you over there. Just make him a little tell him you’ve got 100 men offering to give you a ride. :w00t: Unless he spends all his money on you on Valentines Day.

Good to hear you’re safe and sound Hel’s!
I bet you can’t wait to get back to the good old sounds of London, and a good night out without having to check over your shoulder! :w00t: :stuck_out_tongue:

Hope your journey back is a good one!

RR

Cheers

There have been taliban suicide bomb attacks in Kabul today, in town and at the ministries, many casualties, plus gunfire, seems a mini war has broken out in the centre of town.

So fingers crossed re getting out tomorrow - might be tricky. Everyone is in lock down at the moment.

However, am safe
