If its not Pilot Road 2’s then the 208’s… I ran them on the Bandit (factory) and they held up well, warmed up quickly and were generally sure footed. Keep in mind that this was Aug 06 - Oct 06 on them… not the warmest of times for running round scraping ya knees but the chicken strips on em were well used and abused
Now saying that, as long as Michelin make the Road 2’s or 3’s (if they ever come out) I will pay and use them… best all-round tire I have ever had on a bike!!
When you decide which one you want, give me a ring and I’ll let you know what price I can do it for you. My number’s 01775 841078, ask for Stef. I can get tyres in for the next day and will always do a discounted price, if I can.
Road Pilot 2’s not the old Pilot roads, haven’t used the old ones, but they were not highly rated. The road pilot 2’s are a lot more money, but I think they are well worth it
the D207 are old now, too pyramid profile for my liking.
Just to through it in I use Avon Storm ST’s on my TL. It’s a handful at the best of times but these have proven reliable and stable with excellent return of feel.
I was suprised myself at how good they are, and the best bit…They’re British and well priced.
It all depends what you ride and how you ride really.
If you are a FWR and like dry trackdays then i would recommend Metzeler Rennsports, amazing grip and great feel from the front.
Hard road riding then take a look at the Conti Race Attacks, well priced and have a reasonable tread life.
General road riding then you have a larger choice with the obvious Michelin 2CT’s and Pirelli Diablo’s but Continental have the Road Attack’s.
Just fitted Michelin Pilot Race to my 1098 which come in different compounds, i have a medium/soft front and a medium rear. Will let you know how i get on with them, first impressions are great, good feel through the front and warm up reasonably quickly.
Good luck and let us know what you eventually go for.
+1 the 2ct’s are excellent , i,ve had many times been taking out of a slippy situation and then been put in a sticky situation 2ct’s rule they are a LIFE SAVER , tyre wear indicator well they can last you all depending how you treat them , but i look back i get my rears for £93.00 fitted to lose wheel and think of the happy safer times on them makes me smile when i buy another , i have had my bike just over a year old now and i think i can recall going through up to 7 rears
Keep on burning rubber guys its better rather than been shy
They were Pirelli Diablos, seemed fairly good, gripped and warmed up nicely, were very sticky when I felt them after a dry session, and pretty good wet performance, although when it was tipping it down they did feel a bit slidy…
thats the more road version compared to the corsa right? still impressed mate
out of interest did you find a slippy section at surtees? it was the only place i was getting a bit of a wiggle from the rear but only for 1 or maybe 2 of the sessions
Hehe think any tyres are sticky if you give em enough wellie and hang off like a baboon…
Not really, didn’t find it, think I take a slightly different line through there, from the vids it looks like I turn in early, so could have missed it if it was in the entry part.
