No idea mate but it don’t sound encouraging does it… ?? Best get it listened to asap.
Does it sound like someone is trying to get out? If so you might have little people stuck in your tank.
LMFAO
about time we had another glimpse into ‘Mini-Mo-World’
If his name’s Gulliver, then I’d defo call the mini-cops mate.
get a big screwdriver or socket extension bar, gently rest against engine casing, put ur ear to tool n have a listen like its a stethoscope. do this at various locations whilst the motors running, rev from time to time.
shuold be able to locate where noise is so will be more help in identifying the fault.
ie; if noise from top end poss sticky tappet etc etc.
Cheers Puppy, I will give that a try. Hopefully find out where the sound is coming from.
If not, I will have to take it the garage and have the little people removed.LOL
DNT KNOW MUCH BOUT THE 500’S BUT IF IT HAS A CAM CHAIN THEN 100% IT WILL BE THE TENSIONER…I WORK OVER ELEPHANT AND CASTLE WE COULD SORT THAT FOR YOU IN NO TIME AT ALL…LET ME KNOW
sounds like a dodgy cam chain tensioner to me not unheard of on the CB500 up to 01 especially
new tensioner easy to fit and probably about £30 give or take
Thank you gixxer101 & Incubus,
If i am going to try and fix it myself, I had better go and get a Work manual for my bike.
I dont even no where the cam chain tensioner is on my bike.COMPLETE NOVICE
Sounds like its the cam chain, fairly easy on the CB I think.
Have a good look round your downpipes as well though. Small holes in these can give a similar sound.
Thank you Savoury,
I dont think it is the down pipes as they are new. So i think it must be the cam chain.
Thanx Again

np mate, might as well eliminate all possiblities.
