help - fitting integrated washing machine fascias

had my integrated washer/dryer replaced under warranty and fitted it last night.

prob is that the hinge height on the new washing machine doesn’t align with where they are mounted on the covering door like the old one

anyone know what the solution to this is? do i need a special circular drill bit and make new recesses on the door, or is there a clever method i’m not aware of?

JB - reading between the lines I reckon the easiest and quickest solution is going to be using a " router " to make a new hole in the back of the door buddy . Might be easiest for you to just mark the holes and pop the door into someone who could do it for ya - should only take a couple of minutes .

As a side note - why you bothered about a fekin’ washing machine - surely this is NOT your domain

hah, i get bothered when the last one literally blew itself apart and i have to start turning my underwear inside out whilst i’m waiting for a new one ;)figured theres a tool for the job and that you modify the door, just dunno where you get it or where you’d take the door on short notice to get it done?also presumably there are blanks that you can put in the old holes?

Yellow pages dude - look for " cabinet makers " or some sort of woodworking operation . I used to use a really good fella ( in Berkhamstead in Herts but probably a little too far away for you ) who used to make custom built staircases etc for us . Just need to mark the centre point of each hole and make a note of the diameter

Failing that , your local " Magnet " or wherever you got the kitchen from originally may be able to help

And , yes you sould be able to get plastic caps to fill the old holes buddy

ok cool. ktichen carcass and frontage is old unfortunately, have tarted it up with surfaces and tilesbeen hunting on the net and think this may be the jobbie? will this work with a regular drill?

http://www.screwfix.com/prods/11596/Drill-Bits/Wood-Drill-Bits/Hinge-Cutting/Hinge-Cutter-TCT-35mm#

typically there is more than one size, so cant order it, will have to go hunting in B&Q or somewhere tomoz i guess

That’s the jobbie buddy - should work with a normal drill as long as the " chuck " is nice and tight ;)Just make sure you get the drill perfectly at right angles to the door otherwise the hinge wil not seat correctly in the door once fitted :cool:Good luck in finding one in a " general " homewares type store though buddy ;)Best to try someone like Issac Lords or someone a little more " specialised " but you might be lucky !

The new washing machine should’ve come with a template for mounting the door front, Where are you mate?? I may get chance to have a look for you at the weekend or an evening next week

that rings a bell on the template front as it goes (doing this kind of crap late at night just aint a good idea is it!). dont think the instructions mentioned it specifically cheers mate. might need to call on your services then if dont get this sorted sharpish myself;). i’m in east london?

Failing that - take it to B&Q.
They may even do it for free!

worth a go. will throw it in the truck in case…

i’m trying to sell my flat as well, awesome timing for appliances to have a wobbly (dishwasher just had a fit too!)

hi

has it got hinges the same as the other cupboards in your kitchen? if so your best way is to buy a forstner bit(think thats how you spell it ) its made so it doesnt come through the front of the door.

sorted this on sunday - picked up one of those funky drill bits and modified the door. can safely say tho that its not a drill job! defo needs a fixed router and clamps for the door to get the cut clean. worked well enough tho and the door is back on. will have to fill the original holes and do a bit of make good but will be good enough.

Little plastic filler plugs are available for redundant hinge sinkings.

Try Scrfewfix or Woodfit.

(Far be it from me to suggest that you go into a kitchens showroom and nick them from a display kitchen. That would be terribly wrong. They’re also pretty tough to get out with just your finger nails.)

With your suggestions of nicking these plugs and flouro vests on another thread I think you sheould be renamed… Fagin;)

LMAO hes a funny fella:D

What?

I’m just suggesting alternative attitudes to these things, not advocating larceny. That would be terribly wrong.

I also attach health warnings that some moves may be illegal.

Do unto others, before they do unto you. New Cross, 1950’s. (and 60’s, 70’s, etc.)

cheers, i shant comment as to my tendancy to get a fiver finger discount

the prob is that the new recesses i had to make overlapped the old ones which is a bit of a PITA. means that the secondary gap is exactly where i want to put in the small grub screw hence the wood filler. prob is that that much of it takes ages to set hard. one screw is holding fine, would rather two tho to be honest!

As you get older, you’ll get to be more patient with waiting for things to harden up.

well there’s a mental image I didn’t need first thing in the morning :stuck_out_tongue:

LOL@ 5 finger discount:D
