I noticed that they have a massive clearance sale of the Goretex stuff. Has anyone got any first-hand experience of these items?
I need 100%waterproof and warm gear for my everyday/all-weather 130miles round trip commute to London.
I have the trousers and they are okay. The gortex is a seperate lining. The outer material is quite light but when wet gets heavy. Also it melted on the right leg due to my end can making contact with it.
The jacket looked good - didn’t need one at the time but loads of pockets and stuff - but again it’s the lining that is fully waterproof not the outer…
Seemed a bit bulky really - but worth a look at the prices quoted now and if budget is a consideration
I use Rukka as do many others. The gortex is part of the jacket not a seperate lining - there are a variety of different jackets in the range - some horribly expensive others less so - (I have an Atec) - There’s a proper five year g’tee too.
Baby Polar Bear has had his Rukka for a while too - whilst the man himself shows the miles the jacket still looks fresh! All you need to do is tumble dry it every 6 months or so to keep the gortex good.
Good protection and all weather ability - I’ve been fine winter and summer. Recent off on mine showed the protection is in the right place and jacket stood up well to the off.
It did cost but I used to buy a jacket nearly every year - I don’t now and the off showed the protection was great.
Halvarrsons’ safety suit gets a lot of praise too - I found that a bit fiddly though and went for Rukka (and it was cheaper).
I use the HG Cruise Jacket and Trousers for Winter Comuting.I’ve owned my current set for three years now and it is still water proof and in good condition. I’ve been in some very heavy downpours on the motorway and stayed as dry as a bone.
