As mentioned, I took GM to Amsterdam on Friday morning and we came back Monday evening. His sister and her wife came with us and the whole thing was arranged as a surprise for him. He knew nothing about it till the morning we left when his sis and Helen arrived at the door and told him to hurry up and get showered and dressed. I’d already packed his suitcase and had it hidden. I’d checked in online so he didn’t know where we were going till he heard the tannoy and matched it to the gate number on the ticket. I’d also booked us into a 4* Hotel on Damrak called Swissotel but while we were walking to it we took a detour, by accident, down a side street so spent a great deal of time winding him up by saying we were staying “in that hostel!”…“No its the next one”…“Isn’t it this one!?”. You should have seen his face when he seen where we were staying!
