I just bought a GSXR1000 K8 15k on the clock. Service history is somewhat lacking and the last owner wasn’t clued in very much on the mods done to the bike. I am also mechanically handicaped. I can change the oil, filters, pads, but that’s about it. Rest usually goes to mechanic.
It’s got a Arrow Thunder Exhaust (not sure if it’s a full system TBH), PowerCommander III - not sure how it’s mapped. I noticed it doesn’t start very well when cold unless you give it some throttle. Also seems running rough on idle when cold. After it warms up it’s perfect and the engine is a beast.
I wonder if you could recommend someone who can have a look at it and possibly dyno it or whatever you do to adjust the fueling/power commander. I never had those gizmos, but I would very much see and know how it;s done and what the bike is actually running (Perhaps get a copy of a map on USB etc.).
I know the Oil/Filters/Brake/Clutch fluids were changed recently. I’ll do the plugs and Air filter clean (It’s K&N) next week if the sun ever comes out. Anything else you folks recommend doing after getting a new bike?
Yesterday when picking up my bike from the place I took it for an MOT I noticed a sign saying Suzuki tunning specialists, the place is owned by an ex BSB racer, the guy seemed honest. give it a go and see how it goes. The place is called SBK city servicing.
This is by no means a recommendation, go at your own risk, but I got a good feeling. Good luck anyway
I am more leaning towards the HM Racing or PDQ. Call me judgmental for I kind of distrust people who sell Chinese bikes I also found place called http://www.stevejordanmotorcycles.co.uk/dyno.asp.
I might visit each of them and have a chat. Good to have a destination to ride to rather than just bumming around Essex and Surrey :)
Ignore the Chinese bikes, used them quite a few times in the past and Rhalf is a top guy. Always busy, but normally more than happy to have a chat or even do a quick fix to help you out. There’s a dynamic room tucked in the workshop, so we’ll set up.
