Gsxr k3 600 engine problem

Hello guys here we go my engine giving up i guess. Here is the video of my bike and strange noise Here is the similar issue https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3IIjxOne0X4 but i cant hear the knocking on stand still only when riding Worst thing is my MOT is running out this week aswellAny ideas of what is it?Thank you

Could be loads of things - but at first guess if it is making a rattling noise it could be a loose cam chain (cam chain tensioner might need replacing).

Thread from another site on it here:

I hope its CCT forgot to mention its backfires sometimes on down shift aswell. Its not rattling on stand still or on stand even when i going through the gears, this only when on street riding. could it be valves?

Backfire might be unrelated to rattle and due to another issue.

Best solution is to start with the rattle and decide what is the most likely cause of this noise and work out from there - based on what you have said I would start by taking a look at the cam chain/cct.

Before you start unbolting fairings and valve covers go and get an expert opinion - take the bike to a decent Suzuki shop and ask one of the mechanics too have a listen/ride - hopefully he will be able to narrow it down it to one or two potential problems which you can then either investigate yourself or get the shop to take a look at.

bollox Im going deaf

Sounds a lot better then my bike

backfires can just be about fuelling

my triumph does it all the time that’s what triumphs do

whats happening inside the engine isn’t part of an mot

LoL have a good listen at the end of video when im starting to turn and going back slowly you can hear it for sure.

I went to local garage and they said start from CCT so probably i will need to get that and valves has not been done last 2 years and probably was not done by owner before me could be valves need adjusting aswell. well looks like weekend going to be busy for me and buss to work too

Shall i just remove old CCT and have a look before buying new one? thinking to get manual this time or get automatic?

If you can get it to Watford on Saturday I’ll have a look for you.

Yep - have Scorch take a look at it - he will be able to advise you.

Personally I would stick with the auto cct as it’s just one less thing to have to adjust - people who do a lot of track/race their bikes have very specific technical reasons for using manual.

What is your contact number ill give a call to discuss

pm Scorch mate

Scorch is the man.he’ll have a fleet of London bikers rides outside his penthouse apartment soon.he has mine for some cosmetic adjustments.

I had a gsr with the same motor as yours. I had a rattling sound that we figured out was the downpipes. where the 4 goes into 1 there is a plate inside that had deteriorated and started rattling.

Take a large screwdriver and put the pointy part on the bikes engine at various parts with your ear firmly against the handle end. You can ear the vibes directly from the source then. Just like a stethoscope

Only when actually moving it makes the noise ? On a stand no noise, even when going through gears ? If that’s really the case it sounds more like you have an interferance of parts problem somewhere . Something to do with having the suspension compressed with your weight and the routing of the drive chain… bolt come loose and getting its head battered on the chain , or the extra weight of the bike being propelled is causing something to slip on the drive chain … I would be starting by pulling off the cover for the front sprocket and looking at that … checking fitment and splines , I would also be thinking rear cush drive mashing itself apart in the rear wheel .

Don’t just take the cct out randomly though - you need to set the engine in a particular position else the timing can slip which is potentially a big job to correct.

Best left to an experienced hand…

Does sound like cct though… gsxr engines are fairly tough on the whole

Thank you all for replays i thought it could be something with exhaust but not sure its so complicated.

right dont know what to think any more, spend all day yesterday checked CCT valves and reshimed it change new oil and oil filter. On first go sound disappeared and i was thinking that all good and fixed, put everything back together and was so tempting for a ride so off i go and after 2 min ride rattle came back again what the F***ING joke. I probably need to burn that bike. After the ride when stop it rattles for like 10sec and noise goes away until you ride it again

I think I already inferd it was not your valves … I will infer it again … It’s not your valves … has never been your valves . You wasted your time looking at valves . It’s a parts interfering issue , loose thing , slipping thing , bashing thing … But not valves .And as for burning a bike because it’s got a rattle that could be nothing more than a loose bolt for all you know … well quite frankly that’s just stupid . Take it to someplace that knows what they are doing … not the local place that advised you to start at the CCT cos they are obviously also stupid .Take it to a place that starts at the back wheel and works through the bike logically … Scorch would be a good choice .
