gutted for you mate. will keep my eyes peeled. these f##'ers make me sick I was on a bike site a while back and a memeber used to find out when convicted bike theives were in court (not sure how) then wait outside and photo them on his phone and post them on the site… was a great idea

Have a look on the pikey sites in Harlow

Cheers for the replies guys, still scratching my head on how they managed to take it from right under our noses!

sorry to hear that, mate :frowning: hope you get it back somehow…

I had to laugh, I had a visit from Essex police lastnight who came to investigate the theft of my car?! I had to remind them it was a motorbike.

They then told me that if the bike was on the road with the original number plate on, the police would pick this up on ANPR. But if the bike failed to stop then they were not allowed to pursue a stolen motorbike as this was too dangerous! wtf!? No wonder so many bikes are stolen!

Just had the dreaded phone call from the police… they’ve found my bike in Potter Street/Old Harlow near the pikey site, sounds like it’s a write off:

Fairing smashed, partly missing

Indicators smashed

Number plate missing

Tax disc missing

Ignition barrel smashed

Petrol lock smashed

Seat lock smashed

Top box missing

Battery missing

Flat front tyre

Heavily dented and scratched

Gutted, part of me was still hoping it would turn up in immaculate condition.

Those lowlife scumbags. What kind of crap do they have running through their heads?

(Not the police - the thieves. )

Is it all OK from an insurance point of view?

By the sounds of it after the insurance company have had a look at it and priced the repair the chances are that it will be written off and you will get paid out for it. If nothing else this might help speed up the claim process where as if the bike was still missing then you would have had to wait longer.

Good luck with your claim.

I think the claim was going ahead nicely, I’d sent my keys, log-book, insurance certificate off last week, so was just waiting to hear back.

Fingers crossed they will write it off, I don’t think I could ride it again after someone has totally trashed it.

Hopefully this will speed the claim up, been without a bike for far too long now!
