Got nicked this morning

Just thought I would share with everyone that I got pulled this morning - on my pushbike. Ticket reads ‘unauthorised cycling in Greenwich park’. Couldn’t believe it, I cycled down the (albeit very wide) pathway which runs diagonally across the park instead of going down the road. Luckily they were only warning people so no fine. You could argue that they should be out ‘catching real criminals’ but at lease they do target cyclists from time to time, now if only they would hang around at traffic lights a bit more often…

What a waste of time/money and resources.

I bet if it was raining they wouldn’t be there, any excuse on a sunny day to stand around in the park!

ohh i was thinking off poping up there later on the bike play time:)

I was dead lucky yesterday coming down the old kent road (my own fault) was not paying much attention looked up to see a red light slammed on the anchors but was too late over the line I go as I look forward 2 cops in a car just starring at me!! what could I do I’m now in the middle of the road!

anyways they were ok think they kinda knew but thought I was going to be in the poo…

bloody cyclists should have been locked up !!!

Not really. Greenwich Park has its own park rangers and police who are allocated to patrol it.

Last time I was there with a friend, a gang of hooded youths started cycling erratically on the path and forced us out of the way. I’m afraid I have little sympathy for cyclists who use those paths and only wish that they would get their cycles confiscated too

There are a lot of elderly people, as well as children and mothers with babies who use the parks. The last thing they expect is a cyclist to come flying down the path and move out of way in time.

Sometimes cyclists need to think about how their actions affect the rest of the community, particularly on the paths and roads which are allocated to pedestrians. There is a huge rise in the arrogance of cyclists who think that just because their tyres can go on a road, then they should be allowed to ride in it, and then the police aren’t doing their job, because they’ve been caught out. :w00t:

As a frequent user of the Greenwich with my 2 young lads I fully appreciate what you are saying. I genuinely didnt realise I wasn’t allowed down that particular path, although I did see ‘no cycling’ painted on the the floor at the bottom of the hill after the PCSO stopped me. I normally ride my R1 but for the last couple of weeks been trying different routes into work by cycle. Didnt want anyone to think I’m an arrogant, testostorone fuelled, lycra bandit that we all come across most days. Having cycled into town a few times recently I am quite shocked/angered at the extent of the behaviour of some cyclists, not being a quick cyclist I see more than when on my R1. Some really are a danger to themselves and others.

Guess the PCSO didn’t think you’re one, otherwise the fixed penalty notice would have come out. Lol. I wonder what these cyclists say about bikers

I like Greenwich Park - it’s well policed and feels safe to take the kids to. Other smaller parks are just yards for cannabis dealing kids; knife stabbing kids; hand-bag stealing kids; large teenage boys cycling on suspiciously small dainty pink girls bikes…

Too true, I live near Dartford and my other half wont go down to Central Park because of the all the winos etc. Perversly, the copper at Greenwich said that the second most common complaint in the park is the number of Police Cars driving around.

If i want to get away with riding in the park or pavement, I just grab my neighbours pit & mix, oops and dont forget your hoody. Easy life…

I would have taken you’re bike and let you walk then sold the bike as scrap.

cant belive you stopped for a pcso
