Hi Guys, bit late but a Happy New Year to everyone and hope you are all enjoying the bus lanes.
Myself and a group of biker friends from Cornwall (where I originally come from) are looking to visit Goodwood this year to replace our normal summer cider weekend at the now cancelled Beaulieu Motorcycle weekend. Have any of you guys been to Goodwood in the past? I would appreciate the feedback from a bikers prospective as none of us has ever been. Thanks

I know Grim and Debz go and this year i would love to go as i`ve never been.
I’ve been twice in the past, if you like anything with an engine that goes fast then it’s definitely worth a visit, there’s all sorts of different machinery there and you can get pretty much up close and personal with all of it, as well as the drivers and mechanics for those behind the scenes chats.
I’ve only ever been on a Friday and I thoroughly enjoyed it, so whether you go on the cheapest/quietest day(Friday) or on one of the more expensive (but still good value for money) and busier days you should still have a great day/weekend!
I’d thoroughly recommend it to anyone that hasn’t been before. 
Nuts - just seen the dates and it is the same weekend and my mate’s wedding…
Tim, is the friday any different to the weekend (i.e. less famous drivers, etc?), or is it just cheaper cos it is a friday?

I go every year both to the Revival and the Festival of Speed if poss… absolutely love it, it’s the best. Def going this year… have had the offer of a ride down in an Aston Vantage this year

great event, defo worth going. amazing access to the cars, bikes and the people driving/riding 'em. things aren’t cordened off the way you get at formal ‘shows’ in london etc
the festival is in the Goodwood House grounds and the cars and bikes do a timed hill climb/show off to the crowd as they do the run through the main grandstands. The Revival (retro) is at the racetrack.
its varied a little the times i’ve gone in terms of the bikes and riders that are there - think it depends on racing committments partly. theres usually some wsb people giving it some up the hill, and saw stoner pre ducati holding up the motogp end a couple of years back. always a range of bikes from different years and disciplines nailing it for the crowd
Been twice! Once it was torrential rain, the blackest clouds you’ve ever seen, second time Chaos and I marshalled for the entire weekend, was about 2/3 up the hill, nothing happened apart from more torrential rain…arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhh :crazy:

It’s been very helpful to me… If you could just let us all know when you’re both going to Goodwood and we’ll stay at home in the warm & dry
been a couple of times. Once on Saturday and once on Sunday I think. Both days were fantastic. Really really well organised event. Even if you’re not a true petrolhead, I think you’d still enjoy it, there’s some much stuff to do, look at, and most importantly listen too
It’s also one of the few times you can get to chat to F1 mechanics (and drivers if you’re lucky) without being super rich. The paddock is included in the normal ticket and there’s a great atmosphere.
One thing I would recommend is to go early in the morning. Traffic can be a bit a pain, and although parking etc is very well organised, it can take a while to get in.
It is cheaper as it’s the first day and yes you guessed it there are less famous faces there but to be honest we never go for the celebs (motorsport or otherwise) anyway, the cars and bikes on display and running up the hill are far more impressive and there’s enough ogf them there on the Friday to give a full days entertainment, it’s also less crowded but it’s still busy.
Having said that the first year we went we did bump into Jay Kay in his shiny black Enzo, just about to take it for a run up the hill! :w00t:

As others have said, it is a great day out and well worth the money. Some nice roads around there too if you go on the bike.
