Yesterday Morning I was going to see a friend who lives in Bromley, about 50 miles away. I was about 3 minutes from his house when i passed a BMW M3 Traffic police car traveling in the opposite direction. In about 10 seconds they had spun around and i Pulled over. Hmmm i had kept to speed limits. They said the reason why they had stopped me is 8 out of 10 times when they see someone on a sportsbike in jeans they are not insured or its stolen. They gave the bike a very good looking over. Firstly They spotted the License plate was to small so i received a £30 fine for that. Then they checked license details. so your under 21? Yes i said. had your license for 14 months so your still restricted for another 10 months? yes. I said the bike is restricted thinking no more questions asked, but no there were more to come being very anal about all the details. He wanted to see the restriction certificate. i haven’t got one was told it was restricted. he then pointed at his car and said ‘’ that’s a fiat panda’’. So i came clean and said it obviously is not restricted as i haven’t got the certificate. ‘‘Right then sir, your bike will be confiscated, crushed and turned into razor blades as your insurance is now void’’ luckily the helmet was not in his car to take the bike away and they recieved another call on the radio. So they issued me with a Another Fine of £60 for not driving in accordance with my license and 3 penalty points. The bike must not me ridden. if they catch me riding it away it will definitely be crashed and i will be summoned to court and loose my license. they alerted every police car in the area. So i got away with it for 7 months but now need to get a ristrcuitor kit fitted anyone where or how to go about doing this.
So you see riding around without the correct licence entitlement a “good thing” do you?..Some of us have spent a lot of money to make sure we’ve got the correct entitlement on our licences to ride/drive within the law.
I can’t believe you’ve posted this on a public forum…
I’m sure that he has learned his lesson now. We have all done the wrong things time to time. when I was 14/15 I used to ride my crosser down to where we used to scramble and thought nothing of it, it’s only when when you grow older and wiser that you understand how silly you was and how many laws you broke.
14/15 is a bit diffo from 21!!! Even so, how old you going to be before you wake up and realise the reality of your stupidity??? Whn yo’ve lkilled someone!!!
Im sorry to say that you deserve the bike been taken away from you, maybe not crushed as thats not right but to stop you riding illegally without the proper insurance as your bike wasn`t restricted.
What happens if you have an accident and hurt someone badly, your insurance company would void the claim and you would be sued.
Hope you have learnt from this.
You’ll also have invalidated your insurance if you’ve told them it was restricted. They had enough there to get you a ban when you add up the points. Its not worth it in the end because it will end up biting you hard in the arse.!!!
we all do things we think arent that bad…lets say a lesson has been learned for us all…sometimes you can bend the law sometimes you cant…and the way we bikers are root cause of all evil its not easy to get away with anything these days…so best we are all good boys and girls and stick to the law…especially ones that invalidate your insurance and your legality on the road and put you in the no insurance illegally riding category…thats real bad…
The certificates cost so much because of the homologation requirements. The restriction is only a few washers, but proving they do the job without paying for a dyno (and then having that ratified) is worth it.
Firstly you’ve been riding a 2yr old R6 race rep, nice looking bike that will get attention from everyone including the law, to add to this it’s got a small plate which is obviously illegal, otherwise you wouldn’t have got a fine for it, so something else that draws attention to it, and to cap it all it wasn’t restricted when it should have been, common sense should have said if you’re going to do something illegal then do it in a way that you don’t get noticed, for that alone you deserved to get nicked!
The final point as people have already said is that if you’d had an accident and seriously injured another party, or yourself for that matter, your insurance would have been void, now that’s a really bad situation to be in!!
Now having said all that I’m guessing that you’ve learnt your lesson, you’ve realised that what you thought was something trivial had the potential to be something very very major and you’ve gotten off lightly. So its time to play by the rules. Hopefully lesson learnt with no harm done, luckily, so just try and be a bit more sensible in future, and if your not sure about something then ask someone who’s been there, done it and got the t-shirt, it could save you a huge amount of grief!
