Someone posted a review site of Digital Cameras awhile ago on here, can’t find it…Jay,Cezar know of any ? Gonna pick up my first SLR (still love my Canon AE-1 even though its a dinosaur now ), waffling between a Nikon D70 (heard the D50 is crap) or the Canon rebel XLT
Now don’t get me warmed up about the choice between Nikon and Canon LOL
Go D350 everytime man.
Review site? Hmmm I’m a fan of Andy Rouse who reviews selected kit on http://www.warehouseexpress.com/
and www.dpreview.com are pretty good. Kev (project 9928) will know loads as he’s even more of a snapper than me.
thats the one… “dpreview”. Still like the film camera though, nothing beats the anticipation between capturing the image and waiting for it to develop …btw have been a Canon loyalist for all my life but have heard that Nikon is right up there
To be honest I wouldn’t even bother with a Nikon DSL unless you have lenses you don’t want to part with. Many of the Nikon DSL suffer from high noise levels especialy the D50 and D70.
Canon’s are a lot better as they are more user friendly, very low noise and also you have over 60 Canon lenses to choose from, as well as Sigma, Tamron and the like.
The Canon 350D is well worth the money, its lite, has amazing image quality and team it up with one of Canons IS lenses and you have a fantastic camera for handheld low light photography. The only draw back is the size, the 350D is a little on the small size and I find it does fit in my hand very well.
What I would say is look out for some good deals, the cost of DSLR’s are coming down quite rapidly at the moment so I would actually say look out for a Canon 20D and buy it with a battery grip.
The Canon XLT is actually known as the Canon 350D in Europe just incase you get a little confussed.
So far I have had a Canon EOS 10D (which Andrew now has) and I’m currently using a Canon EOS 5D. Both have been faultless and have produced amazing images, but still getting used to the full frame on the 5D
Check out www.project9928.deviantart.com for shots from the 10D and I’ll add a shot from my 5D to give you an idea of the quality of shots from a Canon.
As andrew has said look on www.dpreview.com and also www.photo.net
