Go pro micro sd card format problem..help!!

I bought a 64gb u3 SanDisk sd card. Popped it into my go pro and recorded the rack day.
When I got home, I plugged the sdr card straight into the comp, and at format disc prompt appears with a warning that if I do so, I will loose all the media on it!!

I’ve tried connecting it through the go pro and that’s just not happening.

Does anyone know how I can recover the media, and down load it to my pc?

Thanks

I’ve always connected the Go pro via USB cable and downloaded content that way. Had to install go pro studio from go pro website first though

did you test before going on the track day that both the camera an SD card worked?

Yes it all works. But apparently some sd card need plugging into the computer to format before you use it.
But there must be a way of retrieving the data.

Is yours a Windows pc? Got a Mac or Linux machine handy?

Could be your pc just doesn’t recognise the filesystem format the gopro uses on the card.

Why can’t you connect through the gopro? Do you need to download the latest gopro software maybe?

Maybe. I’ve used an older card with no problems on go pro studio. It’s just the new card.

Windows 10

New card bigger? IIRC

32gb card SDHC
64gb card SDXC

Not sure but could be a card reader thing.

Check your pc or card reader supports SDXC.

Does it play back on the go pro? I’m assuming it has a screen here…

Or try playback via the GoPro iPhone app

If it plays back on the Go Pro maybe your PC just doesn’t like the memory card so try it on another PC or maybe a Mac. You could also shove it in your phone or Android tablet. Sometimes a particular PC just wont read the card for whatever reason.

Thanks for the advice, somehow the pc recognised the go pro after many many attempts.
I’m still not sure what the problem was, but now it’s downloaded.
Very strange.

Could have been contamination on the contacts that worked itself clean if you used a card reader.

Could have been Windows. If you tried different usb ports eventually it might have set one up correctly. You could try all the ports and see if there’s any in which it doesn’t work still.
