I have now not smoked since 6.45 sunday morning not finding it to difficult but very worried about not fitting into my 1 piece leathers what can i do to stop wanting somthing to eat like sweets ect every time i wanna fag?
I gave up in October. I haven’t had one since. Man its been really hard but a lot of things helped me.1. Chewing gum - have stacks of it around. If you feel like going for a fag have a peice of gum and chew the crap out of it.2. Drinking water satisfied my stomach which stopped me from piling on the pounds.3. You need to be in the right frame of mind. If you really wanna do it - you will. 4. For me it was the fact that I had a new born nephew and I wanted to see him grow up strong and didn’t like the thought of passive smoking around him.5. after a few weeks for not smoking, smelling things that had been near where people were smoking was repulsive
Nicotine gum. It’s so repulsive that you’ll have no trouble giving that up, too. Also, it is bastard hard to light.
I really can’t stand being around smoke nowadays, but 11 years ago -before I gave up - I considered passive smoking a lovely bonus.
If you’re worried about putting on weight, exercise more. You’ll get to feel hugely self-righteous and smug as you jog past the pasty-grey huddle of smoker suicides on the pavement. Obviously, once you’ve got past the smoking craving then you can give up exercise, too. This bit is not very hard.
Well done!! :D:D Take each day as it comes. I think - really don’t worry if you put on a bit of weight. Once you start being able to walk properly without wheezing and cycle to places without getting the bus cos of all that extra energy, any initial weight gain will drop off.
I felt sad as I read this - I started smoking at age 12 at Vicky Constantinos party. 8 years ago I gave up! Then I started again last summer, at the time of the smoking ban!! It was seeing all the smokers standing outside having fun and a chat that made me want to join them, next thing i knew I was having a puff of a roll up, then it was a whole roll up, then it was scrounging roll ups and then it was buying packets of Golden Virginia. A long slippery slope downhill, starting with a single puff.
Just keep on going - don’t be weak willed like me, have a drink instead of a fag, at least til the addiction has gone.
I will be rooting for you, cheering you on from the sidelines.
Cattle prod and lots of small annoying children…HEHEHEHEHEHEHEHE:crazy:Seriously, take it 10 minutes at a time if you have to and think of how much cleaner you smell…
Not that sh1t awfull mouldy ashtray stink anymore.
I smoked from the age of 12 till I was 32 and the real reason I quit was because I could not stand the smell on my clothes and the sh1t awful taste in my mouth anymore. Tried 1 a couple of months after I’d quit and it tasted so Fugging disqusting I’ve not wanted one since. :DWell done you for stopping. You are a non-smoker and that is the only attitude to have.
I gave up 8 years ago and found it one of the hardest things I’d ever done. It took about 3 years to stop actually wanting one and I felt very excluded from my friends, most of whom smoked. I was irritatingly hyper-active for months afterwards. I had to avoid coffee, tea and alcohol cos all three made me want a ciggie. I found water the best alternative as it fills you up and doesn’t set your tobacco glands going – just don’t drink too much of it and then go for a ride in full-suit leathers – you’ll never get the damned things off in time!
