Giving the finger

This is a bit of a warning, a plea for sympathy (fat chance) and an information message:

If you are ever tempted to buy a Garden Groomer hedge trimmer . . . don’t!

I started trimming my hedge this afternoon and managed to stop the very sharp fast spinning blade with the bone in my right index finger! (it cut through the surrounding flesh almost all the way round and chipped the bone).

4 hours in A&E later and I’m tapping out messages using just my left hand whilst my right hand is heavily stitched back together and elevated.

Unlike a normal hedge trimmer the Garden Groomers blade doesn’t stop immediately when the power ceases. instead it gradually slows. After cutting the power I pulled it away from the hedge and swung it down, onto my right index finger. Ouch, ouch, ouch!

They think the top of the finger will heal but I can’ ride my bike! Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!:crying:

:pinch::crazy::crying: Zeus…you have my sympathy.

:pinch: I bet thats gonna hurt in the morning.

ouchouchouchouch. :pinch:

Sorry Zeus mate - hope finger mends soon!

How awful hope it heals soon.

My hedge needs trimming don’t think I’ll do it though!

:)

OUCH!!! :pinch:

sorry to hear that Zeus

when i was 17 (many moons ago) i chopped my right index finger in half with a cross cut saw :w00t:, still gives me jip after 24 years so you really do have my sympathy mate;)

Does the hedge look nice though!

thread needs pics please:)

NO!

Silly bugger.

That’s almost a stupid as sticking your hand under the car seat to release slider mechanism and then pushing the seat back.

What twerp would do that?

6 weeks, keeping it dry, for proper healing.

Is it Privet or Laurel?

You are damn lucky you didn’t lose a finger. Hope it heals soon mate.

Ouch! I thought these days they needed to have brake that operated when one of the triggers is released. Oh for the days of the unbraked single trigger hedge trimmer like the one I bought at a car boot sale 15 years ago. Fortunately some mice got into the garage and chewed through the cable - a lucky escape!

Ouuuuuucccchhh! Best wishes for a speedy recovery

(A friend who did a similar thing but did chop the finger off was bleeding badly in his front garden and asked a neighbour just getting into her car to take him to A&E to be told she was “running late” and could not help. What a bitch)

thats why I leave my garden in a mess…health n safety etc

speedy recovery mate

hope it heals soon mate

Ouch! :pinch:

GWS dude, you’ve done quite well to type all that with your left hand mind…

On the upside I think we’ve found a power tool that Mole hasn’t tried to attack her new jeans with?!? :w00t:

Jee_ZEUS :stuck_out_tongue: mate!! that sounds painful!

You know what they say…

A BAD WORKMAN ALWAYS BLAMES HIS TOOLS:P;)

hope it heals ok luvvie:)

Sorry i just had to…
