I’m getting a free Yamaha Vity scooter on Saturday. Its been garaged for the last four years and eye balling it the brake discs are corroded beyond recognition. Other than it seems fine. I imagine all of the fluids need a change out.
My question is do you think it is better to do the bike up and get it running before trying to sell it on or sell it as seen? My mechanical knowledge is pretty basic. My local Yam dealer reckon 400-500 to get it running with all fluids changed and discs / pads changed. Probably a new battery.
What do ya think? Anybody here interested in buying as it is?
By all means do it up but don’t expect to make any profit. Beware of free vehicles too. Some chaps on YouTube were all excited when they got a free BMW750. They scrapped it a few weeks later as it was uneconomical to repair.
Oh and if you watch Wheeler Dealers if they factored in labour and garage space they’d be in the red on every single build.
Thanks for the input chaps. It’s a genuine freebie - son went off to uni four years ago and never returned and they just want it out of the garage. It’s a family friend.
I’m going to van it to Yamaha to make it road worthy and then either keep for a supermarket runner as someone suggested or sell it come spring.
I think it will value at about £1k when roadworthy if anyone is interested.
