You know you want one … matches my green clocks nicely, doesn’t it?
Took me about 2.5 hours to tear all the plastics off (side panels, inside fairings, nose cone + headlight), about 1.5 hours finding, splicing and soldering all the wires and another 2 hours putting her back together… but I think it was worth the effort!
I installed an Acumen Electronics DG8, in the Green color. They don’t do a plug-in harness for the old school analogue clocks in the Blackbird so you have to solder five wires to your bike yourself.
This is from when I had all the panels and the nose cone off and I was soldering the wires on:
You can see the RAM Air tubes dangling about, those are a real bear to get back into the nose cone right when it goes back on.
i have gotta get one of these!!! going into and coming out of druids in first :w00t: is scary to say the least especillly when you dont blip the throttle to get the revs to match the speed and it fishtails in, then when you get on the gas coming out and the back end spins slips out and nearly highsides ya!! must have one of these for the 31st march , so if your reading this my darling wife :D:D:D;)getting back to it yes it looks good mate:)
Never had a problem with mine. The CCM unit does take (slightly) longer to notify of gear change compared to the one fitted on my VFR, but Acumen said this is due to the number of pulse’s being sent to the unit by the different bikes electrical system.
Having said that, they both appeared to react quicker than the standard one fiited on a mates Kwak 636.
