Hi All,
Wonder if you could help me?! After some absolute ar$ehole$ tried to steal my fazer two weeks ago I’ve been stuck in the car.
A replacement ignition came from fleebay today, so I was excited to come home and get it fitted. Obviously the first hurdle is the anti theft bolts - do I just have to drill these out/ what can I do?
For the time being, I was just going to hide/ mount the new ignition in a new location so that I can at least use the bike. I lifted the tank, plugged in the new ignition and hoped all would be well… Turned the key and nothing!! :crying:
I made sure the kill switch was in the right position, so it isn’t this. I’m no sparky by any means… But I thought a straight up replacement would just work? Could it be that a fuse has blown when the absolute tools tried and failed to hot wire it causing it not to work?
Any suggestions, help or comments would be greatly appreciated. Two weeks without riding is killing me Also I have a new lady friend who is keen to go for a ride and then play in leather… muah ha ha ha. So time is of the essence
Many thanks in advance,
Steve
Can anyone answering this PLEASE do so through pm’s and not place any information that could be used in theft of a vehicle in a public domain …
Ah yes, very valid point… doh
Sorry!!!
Any help still most appreciated!!
Steve
It’s not magic working on ignitions it’s just a switch so pm’s arnt needed as google will tell you everything.
First off if the bolts have no head on them then yes you’ll need to either cut a slot in them and turn with a flat head driver or drill out. You can replace with another pair of break away bolts or fit normal ones.
As for the switch not working from it being plugged in then you’ve either got a problem with the replacement, flat battery, blown fuse or broken wire.
Doesn’t the ECU need to be flashed so it pairs up with the new keys?
Hi Steve
Sent you a PM.
