Fuming!!!

A few months back I had an off, long story short I was riding along reasonably happily despite the rain, came to some speed bumps and went to go round to avoid the paint on the bump itself. Moved over to the left to go between the bump and the curb, and along comes a car with it’s headlights on full beam, in town, needless to say i couldn’t see where i was going and hit the curb. Result: one grazed elbow, busted fairing, decent amount of oil on the road, and one end can hanging off.Any way came home today to find a letter waiting for me from Herts Highways Agency asking me to fill out a form so they can asses if I am liable to pay for the clean up of the spilled oil on the road and/or any council property that may have been damaged.

Now surely that’s what we pay road tax for??

mate sorry to hear this, it’s stupid I know.

this happened to a mate, his tyre blow out on his car going down the motorway hit the central res and came to a stop on the bank on his side.

anyone later got a bill asked for £12k for the damage to the central res… although it weren’t his fault his tyre blow.

not sure what happened though lost contact after that.

Send them a bill for the repair of your motorcycle as it was their speed hump that was to blame for your off. Bet they back off pretty sharpish. A good few councils are being sued by car drivers where damage has occured due to speed humps.
