Fraud

I got my credit card statement today and I have spent £4000 on a holiday I didn’t know I booked.
So I phoned the card company up who have now stopped my card and are dealing with the fraud, so I’m in the clear.
But on the statement is a phone number by the bill so I phoned it up and this nice lady answered and said it was a private number and that she gets this nearly everyday since November last and she has told Thomas cook who the holiday was booked from everytime this happens and they say it’s been delt with but if it is carring on then they haven’t delt with it.
Anyone else on here had this sort of thing done to them.

Would you like to see the pictures John?:smiley:

I wouldn`t put it past you.

Today a friend told me they have had their savings wiped out, as their card was cloned. They flew out to Turkey tonight (i hope) and needed the money for spends.

someone managed to write themselves a cheque from my uncles account for a generous sum of £30,000… funnily enough the cheque used was from his 4th cheque book which had not even been distributed to him yet as he was still using the 3rd cheque book… lovely inside job from Nat**** and yet it took them the best part of 3 months to return the money and in the meantime charge him for being overdrawn… :w00t:

I had this twice a while ago, first about £1200 from my debit card by crooks at the Shell petrol station in Letchworth then £4000 or so on a credit card I don’t use, apparantly they would have guessed the number almost at random, knowing how the numbers are made up.

My bank gave me full refunds immediately in both cases.

For some reason Shell petrol stations seem particularly vulnerable to card cloning and PIN capture. I know several people this has happened to and all were traced to different Shell stations.
