I’m a bit green with computers - I have oldish thing using Pata ??? if it older than sata that’s what I have.
The graphics card … how would that help me ??? The computer fan cuts in when I open photobucket on the web after a while the fans slow and I can continue
Correct: PATA (IDE) = old style hard disk connector, wide, flat ribbon cables, often two drives on one cable. SATA = new style, thin and slim cables, one cable per drive.
Computer fan kicking in - yeah that’s normal. You’re making the CPU do some work starting up photobucket, thus it generates more heat, so fan cuts in. Fans on or off, shouldn’t stop you working, just ignore the noise, it’s fine. If the machine does get too hot, it ought to shut itself down prior to any damage. Better graphics card probably won’t help much here.
Ok - I can ignor the noise … but not those fans
