Hi all, ride cancelled due to weather. Hope everybody picks this up in time.
Hi all. Apologies for another post but didnt want it to get lost at the bottom of the other one. We have a situation, some people are a bit worried about the distance to the New Forest and coming back in the dark.
So I have 2 options:
Option 1: New Forest:
It is lovely, nice roads, good pubs etc. Bad bit is it is a long way so we will have to get a move on and probably do the last bit in the dark.
Option 2: Brighton/Hastings or somewhere similar:
Good bit is it is much closer, we can take our time and will still get back before dark. This will help the folks on 125’s if they havent been put off yet! Bad bit is the roads are not quite as exciting.
If you could let me know with a quick reply to this: Option 1 or 2. Plan is still to meet at Box hill at 10, for a 10:30 sharp departure.
If you vote for 1, we will crack on and make a day of it. Perhaps use the motorway or A3 for the route home. If you vote 2, I will find a good route for all who join.
Thanks and sorry for the confusion. In case you havnt worked it out, this is the first ride out I have organised so please bare with me! Thanks lustfish for all your help on this.
Dan.
PS. Weather looks OK so unless it is lashing down at 10, see you at BOX hill.
I’d prefer 2, but mine only counts as half a vote as I still don’t have my babysitter chained to the sofa for Sunday, and I’m one of the slower ones (STRICTLY speed limits for me, well around those bloody cameras anyhow!)
Route 1 sounds much better. However, like CM, I’m only half a vote since I’m not 100% sure I’ll make it (getting off a flight at 12.30am so all depends on whether I’m awake in time the next morning!) Happy to go with the majority though.
Not meaning to complicate things further but is there a way to cut down the route a little or work out a quicker way back so riding in the dark isn’t an issue? I don’t mind it myself but might allow more people to make it if that’s what is putting them off.
SheWoolf- can you still text me and let me know which route is decided please? Cheers babe
and the roads are not that dull - we could go via rye to hastings - some interesting little bends and hairpins…
and if we go down to arundel - there is a lovely little pub on the river down there = cant remember what the name is tho - Salee can you help out???
I am assuming that whatever happens we will still be meeting at boxhill? dannyboy we dont have access to the internet over the weekend - so may give you a shout on Sunday
the weather forecast for which appears to be sunny and 12 degrees.
I know everyone is saying 1 - but remember there is a learner with us so the motorway will be out for the quick route back all…unless its a free for all??!
OK, the majority are saying the New Forest. This is the longer rideout and we will probably end up riding home in the dark. And yes, as usual, it is a free for all to get home. I did acknowledge with Danny that we have a 125/possibly Kim on her baby - therefore no M27, A3 route for them. This will mean winding back up the way we came through Romsey and Winchester and on to the A3 = much longer route home.
I don’t want to exclude anyone from a bit of fun but a day rideout like this really doesn’t suit a smaller machine because of the distance and time issues. Therefore, I leave it up to you guys what you want to do. Maybe in the new year I and some of the other chaps will help me do a run down to Poole on a Saturday and we can stay the night in a B&B and head home Sunday afternoon. This will then suit the little bikes
