I went to halfords, bought a socket set and fitted my own this week…
didnt put on the R&G’s, but it was fun, definately a bonding session with the bike… give it a go, its good fun when you get mucky with the bike in the garage!
Alternatively, I think Rex Judds said they would have been able to help me if I wasnt able to get them on myself!
I have some really nice Moko Crash Bungs for my 96 Fireblade. I have to put a hole in the fairing to fit them, but not sure if i want to trust their measurements for doing so. Looks like the panels will be removed to make way for a coule of cardboard template so I can be sure to drill and cut the holes in the right place…
Although paying some one else to do it is probably more cost effective in terms of the time it will take.
Time. Oh so true. But there is a bit more to the sum. What else would you be doing? If your not earning money, D.I.Y. is cost effective.
Someone mentioned “bonding”? That’s a bit OTT, but getting to know the machine is worthwhile and fitting crash bungs is a good start. (Unless you have to cut big holes in an expensive fairing!)
It is a very simple job most of the time and no one is “crap”, they are simply unpracticed and scared.
If anyone goes to help, don’t do the job, talk through and help Donners to do the work. Look on it as a long term investment.
Thanks everyone for your reply’s. It’s the cutting holes in the fairing part that I’m not too excited about. I’d rather pay someone who know’s what they’re doing for that.Ryan, thank you for your kind offer, but I’m the opposite side of London to you. (Ratty, you’re right, this is what I hoped LBers would be like!)
Makman, thanks for the link to Amazing Bikes, £25 sounds like a good deal. They’re a distance from me, but I do fancy the idea of having the bike Dyno’d too.
ridiculas isnt it! They manage to fit the largest indicators, mirrors and number plate brackets they can manafacture but for some reason cant bring themselves to add crash bungs. :w00t:
no worries about the offer. It still stands if you struggle. And dont worry about the fairing cutting, Ive done it a few times - so wouldnt butcher it. The best way is actualy to get a sanding wheel on a dremmel and slowly sand it into a perfect circle rather than cut it.
But if its dyno your after aswell I’m afraid I cant help there. Unless you give me the keys, Ill give it a blast and tell you if I think its fast or not
Be nice wouldn’t it, but they’re never going to do it, think of all the cash the manufacturers would lose out on from broken fairings. What I can’t understand is why mass produced bits of plastic are so expensive.
